Key to a successful chase is a straight forward easy to follow concept. How about everyone getting one or two throwaway races. There is a catch however.

You have to start the race to be able to throw it away. You don't use them for injuries.....or maybe one throwaway for injury and one throwaway for a bad finish in the main. If you don't qualify you can't throw it away.

The problem with a throw away race is that it must be mandatory for every rider. The idea is to take something away from the points leader to tighten things up. Presumably someone could be made to not count a win.

Since so many riders get hurt, they are already not completing the designated number of races. It seems it would only apply to riders that start every race? So the points system would become weird where points are lowered, bringing them closer to riders not even competing?

I am not saying I am against it, but I am not sure it is straight forward either.
