Throw a wet blanket over all of 'em... I just watched Moto2 of Lakewood last night and dam, that was some good racin'!!
Some quick thoughts: Baggett is an alien--Barcia is a fighter, and if his training improves he could be the man--Roczen is naturally gifted but not as strong as he ( and some euro posters ) thinks he is---Tomac is the dark horse,..he's hard-core but he has got to find a higher gear if he wants to win this epic title......

Baggett's making them all look a little foolish right now, but the other three should all be there till the end. I wish Wilson could be out there. If anyone could handle BB it would be him, but the competition is a lot stiffer now than it was when he was dominating last year.
if not for a mistake trying to pass Barcia in the first, and getting held up by lappers and making another in the second moto, he could have been the one with the overall win and everyone's tone would be different.
where's everyone saying that he simply wasn't on Bagget and Tomac's pace last week?

Regardless the 250 class is freakin awesome, look for great racing every weekend as long as Baggy doesnt start pulling massive holeshots lol
Eli showed @ Freestone he could best Blake B, which was a great comeback after that first round stomping BB did to all. I was also curious as to why he stalled out on the charge him and BB were putting on in the second moto at Thunder Valley???
Roczen, this isn't a bash now so don't jump all over this but... he looks very Dungey'ish!!! I mean, when you see Blake Baggett throwing down laps, you can visually "see" he's hauling the mail. And I remember watching KROC look just like that BEFORE he was here full time. I miss that. He is consistent just not enough speed yet. Yes, without a couple mistakes he would of been the OA winner but checking "sign-of-the-lap-times" you can see he was quite a bit off the pace(second moto) but benefited from great starts.
BlakeB, what can you say, speedwise he's the BOSS so far. And... he's making sure his bad moto's, if you can call them that, are not championship contention crushing like last year. Again, we're only three rounds in but I'm hoping he's keeps it all figured out.
Anyway you call it, the 250 class is way more exciting then the 450's. It's almost as if OZZY is right! They're both just classes of PRO's, hell.. maybe we should call the 250's the PREMIER class from now on! Heheheh, jus' kidding.
MY outlook of a rider doesn't change simply by if they win or not. It's determined by a combination of aspects of both the rider and their racing. But winning is the goal
He just started WyoTech in Blairsville, about 68 miles away from Mt. Morris. crazy thing is he loves mud-boggin, but doesn't really care for moto...tool.
HAR!! at least it is "gettin dirty!"
...see if he can grab me a shirt.
grab two!
BTW, I'm definitely NOT giving up on him. I understand that a "weekend" of racing is a big difference compared to a "day" of racing. Don't we have James to blame for that? Since we blame him for everything else
Pit Row
Bagget-amazingly he's cranked it up even further than last year, maybe the Aldon Baker training has really kicked in,the laptimes show he puts in top 450 times as the race goes on!
Barcia-definately a big improvement of last year, great holeshots and his experience is now paying off,he looks to have carried the SX momentum and confidence, very solid
Tomac-things have come together for him too now, awesome ride in Texas, starts have slipped a bit which have been where he's dropped potential points, great speed and focus
Roczen-very smooth and mature this year, doesn't quite look like he was last year but everything is new to him and I'm sure he'll adapt,we've seen how fast he can be running 450 pace
Also, I predict Baggett will probably do a repeat of last year at High Point... hopefully that includes the rotated visor.
250 class is way more stacked than the 450s in the ama this year- its gona be alot better to watch. GP's is the other way round! (450s way more stacked/ better to watch than 250s) - its gona be a great season for spectators!
Its a shame wilson got injured as that would have added even more to the series, but 4 riders battling for wins every week is good enough for me!
I think marvin has ridden well so far considering the injury- i hope he can get back to 100% fit and re-discover old form, if he can then it will be a 5 horse race each round!!! Marvin should be good at unadilla!
Roczen. He's still a top rider but just not "the" top rider anymore. You put that down to any number of things that have already been mentioned a dozen times. However he seems to have the right attitude so far. Take your time, learn the system and just do what you can. If BB comes flying by at 2 seconds a lap faster then Ken is just as powerless as everyone else on the track. In other words he needs to just keep concentrating on his own program. Good job so far.
I would say Justin Barcia is in a similar sort of place to where KR is right now. He's definitely well in the running for the championship and is dramatically improved over last year.
However Eli Tomac is still my favorite for the title overall. I would say BB but I think he'll derail somewhere along the way and I'd like to say KR but it's a learning process for him and this class is merciless. Tomac and Barcia are the most likely in the long run.
I agree that Bagget and Tomac are the top runners in terms of pure speed, but their starts have been holding them back, which is where Barcia and Roczen have been good.
I have seen Roczen ride better so I`m expecting him to do better than this. He just seems more conservative than normal. But man, I don`t even watch the GP`s this year, it`s all about the 250 nationals this season! Too bad Wilson isn`t there.
Another dark horse contender for podiums may be Musquin once his hand heals more. He can be the guy who steals points away from the top 4 at times, which means he can be a big factor in determining the championship for Bagget, Roczen, Tomac and Barcia.
I wish I had more time off this summer, I was planning to go to the US for 3 weeks to follow the nationals
To be honest, in my dreams I hoped that Kenny dominated the nationals. Dreaming should be allowed I guess.
Since he is racing, in every year he was a contender of the title, even if he changed in a higher class. In 2009 he won GP`s in the end of 2010 his was faster than Marvin but too late for the title. In 2012 he became World champion, and he had amazing results at the last three MX of Nations.
I saw a lot of races of him in Europe. Currently BB and maybe some others are faster. But I guess Ken is not on the same level as in the last year. It seems, that he raced a little bit carful, maybe he tried to avoid too much risk. Maybe there are some other reasons, maybe Iám totally wrong.
I hope (wish) he will be able to win races this year or actually the title.
If not, it is definitely not a shame. I promised myself to travel to the US for at least one race.
Ride on
Oliver
