7th place points for Reed

Chad completed the same number of laps everyone else who was lapped finished except he finished his 19th lap before 8th - 20th did He took the white flag and sealed his finish better than everyone he lapped because once K-dub took the Checkered it's over, they don't let anyone do a make up lap."

Explained like this it makes some kind of sense.

Right from the AMA rule book on how Reed was credited with his finish. Line J is the key here, ORDER OF FINISH AND LAPS COMPLETED. KW, and 6 others having done the same amount of laps, passed him on the checkered flag lap and are 1-6, Reed is credited with 7th, no other riders unlapped themselves or had the same amount of laps. There is no requirement to actually cross the finish line and receive the checkered flag (the old DNF rule). So hope fully this is a civil answer to several boards quetions and now give Chad credit for his finish as per the rules. And props to all the riders that were out there.

3.27 Race Finishes
a. Races are officially ended for all contestants at the completion of the lap in which the checkered flag is displayed to the winner.
c. Riders will be credited with all laps they complete during a race unless a penalty has been assessed.
d. Riders choosing to leave a race before its completion need not wait for the checkered flag to receive credit for laps they have completed.
g. Under any other circumstances, the winner is the leader at the time the checkered flag is displayed.
[b:2mqpcgjp]j. Any riders who do not complete the checkered flag lap will be scored in order of finish and laps completed.[/b:2mqpcgjp]

In amatuer racing you can be awarded points if you finish at least 50% of the laps completed by the leader assuming you are in a points position >20. I know this first hand because I had to do that in order to keep my points lead when riding injured.
