"... for only $900, a bottomless credit card and countless hours in your garage, you too can make a difference..."
He turned a 1979 CR125 into a 1980 CR125 for four grand, LOL!
Welcome to the Save the Dirtbikes (STD). Everyday there are thousands of dirtbikes around the world that have been neglected by their owners. These bike are forced to live in horrible conditions such as dirty sheds, under porches, and some are just left outside in the rain. These bike are suffering from dirty air filters, blown fork seals, bald tires, and yes folks some even have the number 69 on them. For example in Portland Oregon this poor 1979 CR125 may never see a track again, may never have the chance to enter a vintage race and may face a life of goon riding or end up on ebay as spare parts. We here at STD wish to put a stop to the neglect of dirtbikes, for just the cost of 4000 cups of coffee a bike can be saved….Help become a part of STDs….and save the dirtbikes.
Perfect....we need STD t-shirts immediately.
In all seriousness, that price seems very steep because I'm sure 'needs piston and ring' is code for "it ain't running."
If you try searchtempest.com, you can do a radius search of all craigslist listings in nearby markets, you might be able to find something better or cheaper.
And of course, it is craigslist, so why not lowball him and see what happens.
A tragic case of neglect and abuse......
Found huddled behind the owners squalid out buildings, this sorry CR500 is not only without home it's handicapped too. Missing an engine after a tragic accident, few are interested in rescuing such a "challenged" bike. Can't you or someone you know help this poor machine?
I would rather have a 73 or 74..125
Pit Row
I dont remember from 1980 (was riding rm250t,) but when i was doing vintage in the 90s i picked up a very good condition 1980 125 so thats what i'm basing in on.
loved that bike and i was a yammy 125 guy, though because it was an 80 model it was ineligible for the pre 80 class we had.
raced it once in the pre 80class, asked all the other guys if was okay and wouldnt take any points/trophies,
just wanted to get a race on it (no evo class then)
