2 stroke vs 4 stroke

I do not understand the need for all this 2 stroke loving. I rode them my whole life. Then I got on a 4 stroke and went faster. I miss the smell but don't miss mixing gas even though I still do for my weed wacker. I am glad I do not have to do a top end every 20 hours or every time they decide to blow up. Yeah yeah blah blah when the thumper breaks it costs more, mine breaks less than any 2 stroke I ever owned. You wanna see 2 strokes.... go buy a 1982 RM 465 and go vintage racing.
After you impose your opinion on us I wanna know who of you personally owned maintained and raced 2's and 4's.
Several Suzuki RM 80's 125's and 250's followed by several CRF 450's.

I had 2 fourstrokes and 3 twostrokes.
The old yz400f woked fine, but my sx 250f did not.

Yes you might go faster on a fourstroke (because the rules are unfair), however most people think 2 strokes are a lot more fun to ride and watch!

Personally I want a stable of them all.

The class I race has no displacement rules. Everyone seems to like it that way.

I do agree that the current rules vs technology are unfair. A 125-2 is not competitive with a 250-4, but when that rule was made they were pretty close. Same goes for the 250-2, 450-4. The bottom line is that at the top level they are production class racing/ marketing, and the bikes produced are 4 strokes with xxx displacement. Right now the best weapon to compete on is a 4 stroke. You still have the option at any pro, amateur, local venue to run your slower smoker. This is racing, the goal is to go faster, whatever I race I want to be on the machine that makes me lap faster. Don't get me wrong I miss the sound of a perfectly tuned 125 or 250 spraying softer roost at the track about as much as I miss my twenties, the reality is that they are both gone!!

I believe they are talking numbers not what is capable. Give a 150F to a able rider and I will show you a trail that can beat a line of 20 strong MX450's. I have a friend that loves doing that.

This is hilarious, James racing RC on a 450 while bubba on the 250T. James racing the 250Fs while on a 125. So if he can do it, mayb everyone else needs to man up!

I believe that the biggest reason a 250-2 against a 250-4 was brought up is because manufacturers make a 250-2 they do not make 150's. I know that they are common aftermarket mods but it is just not made that way. I have no doubt that a 150 or more 2 stroke would be more competitive and I would love to see it, I just do not think it is realistic. There is something special in watching a smaller displacement bike beat the big bikes.RC, JS and RV all won MXON races against the best in the world on smaller bikes.
