I’ve been away from the sport a little over four years now and rode with a friend last week and figured I should have another bike. I have owned all but the Kawasaki and really want to try one out. I am looking at the 250 model with years 14 or newer, just wondering what the thoughts are on durability or years to avoid. Thank you!
When we raced more (2014 time frame) we had several friends ride the shit out of the 2014, 2015 models and they lasted around 80 hours before needing engines. No way would I go that long without any preventative maintenance, but to each their own.
I'm sure others have had different experiences. If you plan on riding every weekend, it is hard to beat buying a new bike and knowing it has always been maintained properly. But if it is more of a casual type deal, find a good used one. I would stay away from the 2009-2012 generation.
