Vital MX Pit Bits: Ironman 1

The season may be winding down, but there's always plenty to see around each race weekend.

Vital MX Pit Bits: Ironman

Colter Ahrens and Mitch Payton watching some F1 qualifying action early in the day.

After the catastrophic flooding in Waverly, TN, it was cool to see plenty of riders and teams sporting the Racers 4 Waverly stickers. MX Sports and Road 2 Recovery are doing all they can to help support the community next to the Loretta Lynn's Ranch.

How's this for a sweet setup on the Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing pit rig?

What's that? You'll find this tool (or similar) being used by mechanics to quickly rebend brake pedals, shifters, or levers.

Big B (right) with his bodyguard, Medium B.

Big B wheels the Monster Energy Kawasaki rig, and is not a fan of fuzzy dice. That means other drivers in the pits get to torment him by putting fuzzy dice on his rig.

When you bring your own instruction manual.

They're acquiring quite a collection of trophies from the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship season over at the Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing rig.

When they were talking about "wood chips" on the course at Ironman, it was more this fine sawdust. We like the idea of adding in sawdust to a track...if it's mixed in and not just laid out in big piles.

Cooper Webb has been rocking the check protector over the jersey lately. He was also flying at Ironman.

Preston Kilroy headed out for practice.

Just a little reaper.

Aaron Plessinger is still tweaked after his Unadilla crash, and is being held together with bubblegum, bandaids, and a kidney belt.

Stretching bolts doing torque laps.

Coty Schock turned in a good ride at Ironman with a sixth overall.

Ken Roczen's bike, waiting on a front end update.

Jeremy Martin in a happier moment pre-race.

Who is he? One of the latest members of the AMA Hall of Fame? Oh, and he has a pretty fast kid, too.

It was a bummer to see Marvin Musquin (and Max Anstie) have to sit out with Covid. Get well, boys.

That's it for Luke Renzland's summer adventure on the two-stroke Husky. (He won't make the trek out west for the final two rounds.) Now, what's the plan for next year?

Justin Cooper and the Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing gang were sporting some of the new Thor gear last weekend. We dig this one.

Bringing practice starts to an end.

Man, it was tough to see Jeremy Martin go down in the first 250 moto. With a mix of skill and will, he'd been putting in some great riders. Here's to getting healed up and ready for '22.

Michael Mosiman held it down for the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GasGas Factory Racing crew this weekend. Pierce Brown had a crash and fractured collarbone that kept him out of action.

Godzilla keeping an eye on the riders.

Luke Renzland brought out the 125 Husky again, but had some bike trouble that caused him to drop out early.

It was good to see Kyle Chisholm back in action again, and Alias Sport helping him out again.

Trey Canard working on his Saturday role of factory filming.

Ryan Dungey was back for another round of TV announcing.

That is some fan commitment right there.

Damon Bradshaw (in the blue shirt) touring the track during the pro motos with some of the moto scouting combine participants. They had run a pair of motos on Friday for the east coast riders, and will do it again at Pala for the riders out west.

The hot and muggy weather wasn't just hard on riders. Fortunately, Chris Canning's mechanic was able to flag him down mid-moto.

Not your typical "breathe" pit board.

Aaron Plessinger was a DNF in moto two

The Indiana fans came out strong.

Yep, these guys were a bit cooked after the race. How would you like to be a fly on the wall for this conversation between Dylan Ferrandis and Ken Roczen?

Have time for a little style check? Let's start off with Max Vohland.

Who did this jump better? Dylan Ferrandis (above) or Ken Roczen (below).

Austin Forkner getting stretched over the big tabletop. That's it for this week. Stop back next week for the action from Pala.
