I started racing in 1979 at OCIR on a tricked out XR75 (#53) that we later made into a Mugen replica mini. Then in late 1981 my brother took me to Whittier Kawasaki and bought me a New '82 KX80, I would race OCIR on Thursday nights and Indian Dunes on Friday nights and weekends (#35). Every time we'd rolled into the pits it was the best feeling ever! Setting up and seeing all my racer friends & rivals too! I started out on the mini track, then tapped that out with wins, so we raced the International & Shadow Glen a lot. Near the end of '82 I got my NMA license and raced the Mini Nationals & WMGP at Saddleback that year (#201). I had some Great times at all the tracks I raced and got to know some good people. Then I moved to the 125 class. My first race was at DeAnza on a '84 Honda (#27) and I ended up 4th on the day and was pretty damn happy, even though 3nd was in my sights!!!! After that I still raced for awhile but had other "Teen" things on my mind .... Drumming in Bands, then work, etc .... but I still raced now and then. I'd race the 4-Stroke Nat'l on a Mod Mini from my friend at xrminiracer.com, A Day in the Dirt is still my favorite race to this day! I just ride for the sake of riding now, but love to look back on my Minicycle days and the Great times I had from '79-'83.
