The comment about steel frames stretching is true with mild steel Japanese frames, but European cromeoly frames are much more durable, they would probably break before they would stretch.

Interesting article, I mountain bike/ebike more than I moto anymore just because of track and land access, but I'm amazed at how much grip the short little knobbies on my bicycles have. Then I look at my moto tires next to them and think good god they look excessive, is the addition of the weight, power, etc, that makes it a necessity? Perhaps it would help trails not get shut down and closed to moto's if knobbies were shorter. I'm with Broc, I'll bet they could make a tire with very similar traction over time. Tires definitely tear up the tracks, there's no denying that, but also 47 second lap times kill tracks also. It would help out a lot if the lap times were at least in the 1 minute plus range.
