I had an oil leak coming from behind my countershaft sproket so I went to the dealer to get a new seal and O-ring. I got the seal off fine but I can't get the collar off to get to the o-ring(s). I have searched...

8/10/2014 3:56pm I did. Kind of surprised at how good it looked. That being said, it'll probably eat the seal but I put some grease on the O-ring and the collar so if I need to swap them out it shouldn't be a big deal. At least not compared to what I just went through.

8/10/2014 1:36pm I GOT IT!!! I doused it in PB a bit ago, and went back out a few minutes ago. After soaking up some of the PB I got the collar to rotate side to side a little over 180 degrees but wasn't getting any movement when I tried to pull it out. Just before I gave up I grabbed it...

8/10/2014 11:17am Sprayed some PB Blaster on it, cussed at it a little bit, went inside and waited for bout 15 minutes, came back out, tapped it some, resprayed, checked just to see if it had any movement yet, none yet. I'll check again in a while. We shall see.

8/9/2014 5:14pm I went back out and messed with it some more. There are 2 grooves underneath the collar that I got a metal pick into but no way I could get enough leverage to get it to move. So no real progress but maybe if the WD-40 does something borderline magical, it will come off someday.

8/9/2014 3:33pm Never thought about using a slide hammer. Do you think it even possible to get the jaws in there and behind the collar? Pretty tight fit but maybe there is one that will work.
