What would the points be with a "throw away" race

Alot has been made of the DNF.
The stretcher ride.
The broken chain.

17 races why not score 16 rounds.

Makes going for the win less risky and being consistent but not going for wins a slightly costly.

They used to do this in the GP's in the 70's, largely because the bikes were not as reliable. If you were going to tweak SX, i would focus on making the tracks more forgiving to enhance racing, not give riders a throw away.

Such a rule would have taken a lot of the suspense out of the series this year.
