Looks like they are calling for rain on Wed, Thurs, Fri but no rain on Saturday. A part of me is hoping for a dry track this race but the other side likes to see things get mixed up as it has many times already this year!

Last year they used potting soil from a local nursery! Lets hope they got that figured out.

Rain is back in the forcast now for both Seattle and Salt Lake . Two possible mudders in a row .

Not to bad depends on whether the dirt they use is already waterlogged or not.

Wunderground.com is calling for 70% chance of precipitation from 8:00AM til 11:00PM.
Looks like the chance of rain keeps going up....
And we all know what 70% chance of rain means in the Northwest. Smile
I think it's gonna be a wet one.

ha, where did you get 102?

Just checked the latest computer models and rain chances 40-50% Saturday night right now. Although things will be very wet before then so the track should be very soft.

Rain amounts look very light too on Saturday but anything on top of soft dirt will spell trouble. Other than that it is going to be cold for a supercross with temps in the 40s. Yuck....

70% is 100% in Seattle. I'm going to have to drink more beer I guess.

We have several types of rain here in the Northwest. Here are the main ones from least to greatest.
Sprinkle, Drizzle, Showers (which are divided into Isolated, Scattered and Widespread) and good old fashion Rain (occasional rain or rainy day).

It has been a pretty good week thus far, it rained some yesterday and it is raining a little more today. The forecast is for light showers tomorrow and Saturday.

I know all about the weather up that way, considering the fact I lived in Washington for 30+ years. Wink

And it seems when there is a 50% to 100% chance of rain this time of year,it rains. Grinning

Yeah, I hear yah.
Hopefully they can keep the track in decent shape for live TV, and they don't shorten the event if the showers prolong.
Doesn't take much to make that soil up there snotty/slick....

I think it all depends on what the dirt is like when they lay it out. In 2007 it was a really nice spring and hadn’t rained for a week or two before the race. Raceday weather was perfect but the dirt was still so wet that it rutted up like crazy. I am not sure if they store the dirt in a covered area or dig it up right before the race. I still don’t understand why they hold it outside when there is a baseball stadium next door with a roof.

I don't think Feld could book that venue (safeco field) this time of year (during baseball season).
Just like with Dodger stadium, they would have to replace all the grass etc,
and it would take a while (I think anyway).
I believe the Mariners have a home game Monday.

However, back when it was in the King Dome it was always held near the end of January.
And I can only remember once the weather being a factor (1990) and
some riders & fans a like not being able to make it ,because I5 was a mess due to the snow, ice & freezing rain in some areas.

Mariners are barely using it. I realize it would have to be in the winter but it is warm enough in January/February to have it here then. Maybe the M’s would go for it now that they have low attendance. Seems like it would remove a lot of headaches and make for better racing, and in my opinion a way better stadium. Poring right now by the way, maybe I am just full of wishful thinking.
