I didn't see that, and I'm glad.

There was someone on the roof of a building in the second video, the camera panned away and back, and the building was gone.

I stopped watching after that.

The way the cars coming in off the river or bay there just kept moving over the levee, then the water's rise until it brought the whole dock warehouse building into the building that looks like the port authority, and just kept pushing brings to mind the word "relentless".

I think the ferryboat straight ahead of the cameraman at the beginning, which is later gone, may be the one which was shown in photos sitting on top of a two story building.

I watched the tsunami coverage live for about 3 hours the night it happened. There is a ton of footage out there that is not of the footage continually highlighted in newscasts. Most of the live coverage was helicopter footage. I couldn't believe some of the things they showed. Both of the Tsunami itself with its size and magnitude and then the devastation and destruction caused by it. It was unreal when they panned out and showed how far out the ocean floor went dry only to have it come back bigger and bigger. They zoomed in on cars racing to escape, only to pan out and show they were surrounded by water and running out of room. 100's of cars. Very disturbing.
During the live coverage some scientists were interviewed and commented how this is the first tsunami they had video footage of from start to finish. I don't know what they can learn from that but hopefully it will be something that can better mankind.

A lot of them look less like a "wave" and more like a toilet backing up. The planet really sets us straight once in awhile. I'm wondering how powerful of a earthquake can happen near a populated area. I would've never thought a 9.1 (or whatever they finally rated it) could've happened. I never thought it'd get out of the 8's.

I think we are led to believe they look like a giant wave from teahaupoo or something like that, when in reality very few places can muster a tall wave like that. In reality, out of the name "tidal wave" the word that best describes it is tidal. It goes out and comes back in like a 20 or 30 foot tide--one that flows out and in in a period of perhaps 5-10 minutes each way.

And when the area is hilly, and coves are created, the water has no where to go but up. The most severe damage occurs in areas like this.

All true but I think it can vary. Start at the 4:10 in this video. That is a huge rise coming on the horizon but it is a solid wall of water behind it. Its not like it comes in high and folds over and retreats back to sea. It is a whole other level of water. Like you would imagine if a damn broke.

Steve is right on this. That's a high tide rolling in on a low lying area where a massive amount of water is being funneled down into an area where the water has no where to go other than up.

My God, it's like the entire ocean is coming ashore! I will never live at the shore of an ocean. I was at Newport Beach,CA a couple of days ago doing a job and couldn't help but think how people could live there (at the shore directly). Besides with what houses cost there one could own a Ranch in Montana. Free country.

I saw a program on dam safety last night. Look for a catastrophic flood in the US within the next ten years due to a dam breach. Especially around Sacramento. These engineers were saying it's a miracle that a major dam hasn't collapsed in the US.

there was a video of thermal power plant hit by Tsunami on YouTube, but it was erased after reported on TV. This is a screenshot. This plant is about 20 miles from Tokyo Denryoku Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. A guy with a camera run soon, that we didn't get to see what happened.
