06 yz450 front brake???

I am wondering if my front brake lever should be so squishy. best way to describe it. My buddy has an 09 cr450f and his brakes are firm and feel like as soon as you pull the front brake lever it grabs. Mine has a lot of pull before it grabs and its really squishy feeling. How do i fix that? or is it how the 06 yz450 front brake is? Could use some advise and if it can be fixed, what do i need to do?

X2, and if that does nt work try a braided brake line! and if you some extra money Oversize rotor kit, and some new brake pads.

We have raced Yamahas's for years and the brakes were always a little spongy,especially the front one. '06's were the worst. The only fix is a stainless steel line.
