I am considering a pipe protector for my new 250xc. I'm thinking about a carbon fiber guard but I've been told that it will keep heat in and the motor will run hot. Any advice on this would be very helpful!

Thanks!!!

The carbon pipe guard will also act as a heat shield. It will retain heat more than an aluminum one but not enough to matter much.

Not a particular issue on a smoker, I'd think; no where near the heat as on a four stroke.

Don't worry about heat build up, think of the power loss when you get that big ding without it and if it's a KTM power part you have warranty with it.

Shouldn't matter on a 2stroke.

You can also get a "vented" one......RC used one his last year on his CR 250 in the Nationals.

Kevin Hines at E-Line told me years ago that a 2 stroke bike with a pipe guard runs better because the pipe stays hotter.
I just saw this on the E-line website too. Properly designed 2 stroke pipe guards will protect exhaust pipes from power robbing dents and increases horsepower by elevating gas flow temperature
