I was given a 2002 Ducati ST4S 996 and, an 94 EX 500 over the weekend. I don’t know much about them. All the maintenance has been logged in their manuals. It’s (the Ducati) been pretty well taken care of other than being dropped once after a car nearly took out the previous owner (a friend). No real damage other than a scratch on the right fairing.
Since the ST is a touring bike, I did get the OEM cases with it as well.
As far as what they need, they both need batteries.
The Ducati has a small leak on the clutch line at the master cylinder.
ST has 40K miles
EX has 9K
Anyways, I’m just figuring they’ll be my little winter projects to keep me busy and, wanted to know what to look out for. Thanks.

Wow that's a nice score! Did the scorned wife also throw out all his clothes on the front lawn? 😂
Is it carb or fuel injection? If it's carb, hopefully the jets are not clogged up.
I'd get some batteries ASAP and see if she starts!
Also, next time you use tie downs in the truck. Make sure you use a terry cloth towel by the fairing you could rub the paint off.
It’s fuel injection. The EX is carbureted.
