It's a bit of a tangent, but one interesting thing to ponder is when humans became individuals.  I don't mean singular persons in the literal sense, but when did individual property rights become a concept.  For early humans to survive, it required a group to protect, produce, and nurture the young.  During that period it is only logical that 'the group' shared nearly everything and worked towards the common goal of survival.  We obviously don't have the same level of pressures to comingle our resources quite that drastically now, but it is intriguing to think about just when that switch started to take place.

Do you not think about anything that might challenge your worldview in the slightest?

Well I can tell you that the change came in America right after the country was founded. The first settlement was established with a form of socialism. It became obvious that it would not work because some people took advantage of the situation. Those that do not know history are destined to repeat it.

What would be your preferred societal structure and please point to the examples of where it worked for hundreds of years?

On the upcoming Election Day, I am going to wear a plain white t-shirt...
...and with black electrical tape, I am going to put 5K on the back...
...about foot and half tall...  ...will that get me kicked out from voting?

A republic has worked somewhere for 250 years. The original socialist colony only lasted about one year. The settlers were starving. The guys who were willing to work could not provide enough for everyone.

It's not so much that I want to see the important social programs go away, it's the fraud, corruption and abuse by lazy and or opportunistic people associated with those programs that needs to be weeded out.

Too many people, both rich and poor, absolutely rape the system. Some would say the fraud and abuse by the wealthy is far more prevalent than amongst the poor, it's just there are far more poor people to focus the negativity towards. Easier to make them the boogeymen.

Burn it all down and start over with clear guidelines and guardrails.

As always, I appreciate your level headed posting. You can obviously see the forest through the trees…….

I’ll also sneak into the facility and expect you to pay my entry fees and buy my lunch. Then I’ll make a mess of everything and leave trash all over the place. If you don’t like it, I’ll call you a racist nazi.

I think everyone would agree we need to curtail waste and fraud.

But why did doge actually cost us more money?  We have the hottest economy in the world and our government is apparently taking in trillions in tariffs, why is our national debt exploding.

None of this stuff checks out.

And the proposed budget for 2027 is , big surprise higher than 2026.   Its crazy to think that all the money that was spent during Covid, is less than what the government is spending today.

I don't see why the budget didn't go down after all the Covid spending was stopped.  It doubled one year during Covid and has just kept going up since.  That seems messed up.

These are inconvenient truths that don’t fit whatever they are trying to sell.

What's not to love about kicking the (perpetually expanding) can further down the road so our great grandkids are buried in debt? I mean, fuck those kids as long as I get what I want now.

Its crazy to think about how that influx of money to the average person impacted the poverty levels and  economy. And to look at the budget now that is close to $1T more  than  max covid era spending just makes me wonder where all that money is going?  If we cut all kinds of aid and social programs.  What is the US spending so much on ?  I think I see a deep dive into some financial disclosures in my future.  Its just so strange to see cuts made and the budget still increase at similar levels.

And I'm not blaming it all on Trump. Biden was in office and kept the spending  levels rising after Covid relief stopped.  I think some of that was on infrastructure , but now some of the 2026 and 2027 budget will be spent on un doing and or breaking contracts on some of those projects.  That's not really helping. Finishing the solar and wind projects that were close to being operational  would have been better ( less wasteful as far as spending money) and then phase them out at the end of their useable lives instead of sending brand new stuff to the landfill or surplus auctions for pennies on the dollar. Although I do love me a good auction.
