I'm just wondering at what point Chad was planning on actually turning. I was a bigger Reed fan coming into this season than I'd ever been before, but between that blatant takeout and his "James was riding me aggressive" crap on the podium, I'm starting to second guess that. Ricky himself said that James was playing nice. James's pass was textbook block pass. Bar to bar going into the corner, the guy on the inside gets the spot. Reed's "pass" was absolutely retarded. He came clear across the track from at least 4 bike lengths back and was going perpendicular to the flow of the track.
Carmichael's analysis said Stewart made plenty of aggressive passes before Reed made ONE aggressive pass on the speed analysis.

He also said on Twitter Reed miscalculated his move.

everyone keeps thinking it was james, but this perfectly illistrates how reed just went straight across without turning at all and how would james go around him it probably happened so fast he couldn't react until he actually hit reed. It was reed's fault 100%. and i am a fan of both riders.

The only problem with your statement is the last sentence.

4 bike lengths is a BIIIIG door to leave open.

he (Grieby54) has a good point reed was going straight across and hadn't turned his bike when they hit each other. it's like he was going to go off the track if he wouldn't have got hit it's just a dumb move on reed's part he wanted the win really really bad apparently.

Watch the vidoe...Reed is clearly just starting to square it up when James hits him.

I'm just wondering at what point Stewart was going to check to see where Reed was, he had to know he was close

this would be the perfect time for a quick look to the inside see Reed and a split second longer on the brakes and he's up the inside or at least avoiding the collision

I realize I don't know what it's like to ride at that level but it's what I would've done at my level racing the guys I used to race, surely it's relative...it's being aware of the other guy and countering his moves no matter what they are

it's racing

I love the message boards... and all of the JS7 haters are out in full force once again. Reed makes a total sh!t move on JS7 and JS7 gets blamed for not looking out for Reed? HAHA are you f-ing serious?

Once again, it is a riders responsibility to know where the riders around him are. This isnt a new thing, I remember being to this back in the '
80's.

Bummer for James, but it was his job to think about where Chad might try to stick it in on him.

Exactly how many tracks were on the floor in Atlanta? Surely these two riders aren't on the same track.

Reed looks like he is setting up to seat bounce the jump face that is directly in front of him. His body is over the foot pegs (not up on the tank) and he has the balls of his feet planted on the foot pegs (not out against the shrouds), classic style to rip right right up that jump face.

Now Stewart on the other hand.....whats up with him? He is railing like he is coming right out of a turn exit? Right elbow down, pinning it, left elbow out and locked, inside foot out hinged on the shrouds. Looks like he thought that was a turn?

Maybe they did not do a good job at marking the track with those tuff blocks. Or Reed decided it was a good time to do his Windham opening ceramonies impression.

Nice analysis Professor, now let's analyze James foot position in relation to the classic style you mention. Maybe Tony can put you in touch with Chad so you can help with his turning technique.

Its not always about when you are gonna turn, sometimes it is about killing the other guys momentum, and then worry about turning.

God damn, not many of you guys ever passed someone before.

RL- Read the 3rd paragraph of your own post. That is an accurate description of his riding at that moment.

But he must have forgot that he was on the last lap of a main event, with someone right on his ass entering the corner. Someone who also wants to win really bad.

This is their job, not some Sunday afternoon local race.

Maybe, just maybe, in your SX 101 how to race book you are going to write, add a chapter about line selection and knowing where the rider behind you is before you ride like you are the only guy on the track.

James was so focused on his front fender he did not even try to look to see Chad coming. I guess he figures no one is able to actually pass him so he is not used to watching his back (or front wheel in this case).

So he took him out? Good for him. At least someones showing the heart and desire to win at all costs. Do people actually enjoy watching someone just run away with it? That same move happens 30 times a night in the Arenacross series. The riders can police themselves. You think James won't get even? Sure he will and sure Reed will deserve it. Best damn Supercross I've ever watched. "Have at it boys".

I wish I could turn half as bad as James is doing here. I have to photoshop that kind of roost on my turning pictures.

I don't think Chad needs any turning technique help from me, especially since he was not exactly making any attempt to turn. When he wants to turn, I think he does just fine, probably one of the best.

Did it occur to you that James may have been so focused on his front fender to make sure the airbag was activated? I didn't think so, thats definately going into my SX 101 how to race book as well.

First traction control, then the Rekluse, then Brooks gate, and now a freekin airbag scandal?

What's next, a reality show?

and the reed "still would not have made the corner" in the last pic is hilarious

It was dirty but fuck it, go for broke. Stewart should have left enough room on the inside that a pack of chiclets couldn't have come inside him. Instead there was enough room for a fucking jumbo jet to do the same thing reed did.

Some of you pussies claiming reed was going the wrong way can suck it.

Has nobody noticed that Stewart wasn't even covering the front brake. All of the street riders I know cover the levers, let alone world class racers. Definitely didn't have time to stop riding like that.

Stewart's lack of awareness is shocking for someone at his level. Right after he hit Reed I wanted to know why didn't check up and blow right by Reed on the inside. It would have made Reed look like a fool.

Are you serious? Stewart's lack of awareness? Reed was the one who was completely unaware of what was going on. The guy was riding perpendicular to the lines on the track with 2-3 feet until he was going to ram tuff blocks. That is the single dumbest post I have seen on here...and there is a lot of outrageous shit that gets posted.

I used it to illustrate what a basic mistake it was. I don't know anyone who races that would ride without at least one finger on the lever.

Are there really that many people that didn't see this coming on the last lap of a main?

Years ago when Andrew Short took Hepler out in the last turn for a lites/250 win I was surprised due to his image, but I didn't blame him. That one was a much more blatant take out and I don't remember any controversy.

If you don't understand why he left the racing line for a block pass, I have to doubt you've ever lined up at a start gate.
