No kidding and why would anyone with a college degree want to work in an industry where there is no job security, no benefits and no retirement.

I used to sell bikes because i loved being around MX in my twenties. I finally realized I would never be able to afford a new bike and a house with the money I made not to mention retirement and good benefits.
What country are you livin in? Job Security, Benefits, Retirement? You must be a policeman or a firefighter. How old are you? Just askin.

I wish the SoCal people would stop moving up to WA!

OP: What area specifically in the industry are you looking to get in to?

I see a lot of peopel who want to be in the industry but don't have set goals. Working at a dealership might get you some leads, but only if you are in the right position to make connections. I don't know if there is a better example of "It's not what you know, but who you know" than the motorcycle industry.

With your degree and background, I would look to the PR firsm that handle the teams/riders. I know of at least one that might be hiring in the near future.

Thanks guys for the input. I have thought long and hard on pretty much all points brought up. Im young and have nothing tying me down in WA so I figured I'd give it a go.

I'll check the PM right now MXwebsites, thanks.

My degree is in Social Sciences, But I took classes in Business Law, Marketing, and Advertising so its kind of a general degree focused in social sciences.
Do you want to work in the industry doing marketing/pr/advertising? Have you had any internships? I'm a pr/ad student and am starting my first industry internship in April. I know of a couple places you could look for an internship or job if you're wanting to work in the marketing side of things, but most of them are in the Huntington Beach/Costa Mesa/Laguna area.

The benefit is you are in the moto mecca. If it were me, I'd pick up Racer X and start calling every advertiser located there, to see where you could get your foot in the door. You'd be real surprised what a cold call can get you. And ask for the top name you know there.
