Too be fair a lot of us thought Tomac and Sexton in 2022 raised to a level we have never seen before. At least the intensity they have put in into these battles made it look like they were riding in some unreachable dimension, literally on the edge every moto. A lot of people here said "Jett is great, but he will ride for third in 2023" back then. Then 2022 MXON happened and it was the first time where people actually said "Damn, Jett might smoke them both next season", specially when he blew by Sexton like he was standing still at Redbud. And this thread was from before the MXON that year.
Hunter also really had his breakout year in 2023 with both titles. Nobody could have really predicted Hunters path because until 2022 he was pretty much always injured (even considered retirement) and never got to a consistent level. Ever since then he's building and now he's an absolute alien, but anyone who says he believed that Hunter would be this good 4-5 years ago is just straight up lying.

The thread is, but the post I quoted is from today.

It took hunter 3 seasons to get this good. So no, had they been on 450s in 2022 they wouldn’t have. Jett, yes, hunter wouldnt.

Ill give it to ya.. die by the sword. even if stats, facts and history since goes against that opinion.

I’m not butthurt at all. I also didn’t dig up a 4 year old thread to try to prove a weird point.

Also, the stats show that it took hunter 3 seasons to raise to this level. So, no he would not have been doing this in 2022 on a 450.

Yeah, no.

I'm looking at it from a history point of view. Rarely has a rookie moved up and just won everything. The last guy to do it was Ferrandis last year. Some say he wasn't really a rookie because of his age. If you want to eliminate that, then it goes back all the way to 2010 with Dungey.

Sexton is in his 3rd 450 outdoor season and is just now running consistently at the front. Plessinger, Webb, Cianciarulo, etc. all champions in the 250 class and still haven't managed to replicate their 250 success.

They would definitely have success, but they wouldn't be running away with the series. Don't forget that Ferrandis and Cianciarulo are out with injury. Add in those two and the top 5 is even more difficult to crack.

The 450 class is a completely different thing.

Wow. These particular takes did not age well...

What the heck is a "surreal brother competition"? Laughing

There's a lot of solid posters in this thread whose takes on the Lawrences aged like milk, that's for sure.

Yes, 'solid posters' indeed.
There have always, of course, been those of us that recognised Jett Lawrence as an other worldly talent years ago...

And those who recognised Hunta would keep getting better and better...

It's called knowing the sport.
