Anyone else notice #7 front tire?

Looked to me like a 756 type or soft terrain front, where as the other guy's fronts look like IT tires. You can see it on the CBS broadcast for the main event.

Thoughts?

Good question...makes me wonder about the relationship between suspension and tires...if the forks and incredibly stiff, than the front end will tend to "skate" more...so a softer tire for more grip??????

don't flame, I just pulled that one out my arse, bike setup was not my thing...

Of course, IT tires don't hook up on helmets and jersey's nearly as good as soft terrain compounds.Dry Larry B knows what the hell he's doing.

I'm not sure that a soft compound tire is necessarily better for grip; I believe that really depends on the condition of the dirt. I think tread pattern is crucial however I would assume that riders are always trying to find the tread with the most grip, regardless of the track/condition.

Apparently most everyone was using hard terrain tires. Would be surprising if he was using a soft terrain tire.

And Karma, just FYI, soft terrain tires typically have harder compounds than hard terrain tires. The hard terrain tires have soft compound that conforms more to the blue groove and is stickier, whereas soft terrain tires need to dig down into the dirt without tearing off.

It may be one of those cases where he found a tire he likes and doesn't like to change the tire, rather adjust his riding to fit it. I know villopotto does that

One thing I did notice about his front tire and thought that is what this thread was about is.... I watched the race again last night and kept a close eye on his front wheel since the rotor was bent and it kept locking up according to reports but after the crash and when he slowed down the front wheel looked to be spinning perfectly fine to me I didnt see it locking up in the air at all. I could be way off and I know even a slightly bent rotor can really eff a bike up, any thoughts?

pretty sure he runs mousses and they dont flex .Maybe they "designed" some flex into them.

Only problem is he hit JT's back tire not jersey.

I think the top teams get "special tires", at least they do in Road Racing.

To bust balls we use to tell other guys we train with that their footwear sponsors would get the most advertisment dollars by placing their logos on the bottom of the fighters shoes......I think JT would get the best bang for his buck by placing his on the top of his helmet........JS would do well with logos on the bottom of his glide plate!

I have bent a front rotor before and it never locked up. It did the exact opposite, which is pushed the brake pistons away from the the rotor. I would have to pump up the front brake to get it to work
