Love of family is a strong thing.

I'll leave my beliefs out of this, but I will say family makes it happen.

Sorry for the loss.
My brother in law dropped dead in the shower last Tuesday evening, no warning. 67
May we all have just one more day.

It’s amazing. I haven’t seen many of my family members in close to 12 years. Some friends even longer. It’s like a day hasn’t passed. Sharing laughs and, memories with family always lightens things up.

Bump for Boomslang.

Boom. Today marks 4 years since my uncle had passed. It gets easier believe me. My whole life, he was my best friend, my big brother, my partner in crime. My dad.
Everyone in California gets together at his favorite restaurant every year remembering him while sharing a meal. Though I don’t drink, I’ll have one shot of his favorite rum tonight.

I just bumped this to show you it gets easier. Though it hurts like hell, I can smile instead of crying when I think of my uncle.

I keep envisioning that damn commercial. But, wait! There’s more. So, I’m down in LA dealing with this, my wife’s up in Seattle dealing with that.

Trying to be level headed, not be too emotional while trying to be here for my family because I don’t want to make a difficult situation harder. I flew in knowing it would be tough but, God Damn. So, I’m venting here a bit. I’m thankful for the many good people I’ve met on here over the years. Thank you for the kind words. It means a lot.

A couple positives.
One thing that’s amazing is how many people are showing up to give their condolences. He touched a lot of people and, pushed many to better themselves and, also myself. People I’ve never even met before are speaking of his influence on them.

My uncle was pretty well known locally for his drumming abilities. His band had an opportunity to open for Pennywise back in the 90’s but, life got in the way and, things fell through. When he would play in his garage, smash venues, and the neighbors opened their windows clear down the street to hear him. Super bittersweet hearing everyone talk about him.

My cousin found a few cassettes of his recordings and, practice sessions. Now, we have to figure out how to transfer them to a CD then, download onto a memory card.

Anyways, apologies for the long winded message/vent session.

I just noticed this is an old thread. But had written it like it was current.

I've had similar experiences with friends of my Mom that I never knew before she passed reaching out and telling me some amazing things she helped them with.  Hearing those stories was one of the only things that people were able to say, that really helped things not feel so bad.

Seeing You have a similar experience really resonated with me and while I did not know Your uncle, by the sounds of it he was a great man. Those people sharing their stories with you, his impact will live on and perhaps inspire those same people to do similar things for others that he did for them.   It makes me sad to think that the world has lost somebody who was making a real positive difference.

I've been hit with a bunch of deaths all one after the other over June. It sucks and it's easy to get focused on the loss. I'm so glad You have so many people that are helping refocus You on the amazing things he did . I hope that it helps ease the pain of  Your family's  loss.

I know this is an old thread but title is accurate. My BIL's cancer came back a few months ago. New treatment gave us a lot of hope. Turned out the treatment turned his body on himself. He's been in the hospital for a while now as the treatment caused his body to attack his organs and his heart is having a rough go f it. Presently he's at one of the best hospitals so there is that, his team of docs include neuro, cardio, gastro (I think), of course the oncologist, and more...

Dang guys even though this is an old thread it hit me this morning. Lot of shit going on here. Oldest granddaughter would have turned 22 on Wednesday the 15th, and a week ago we find out that the guy who ran a stop sign and killed her has won an appeal now tge plea deal he agreed to is null, now we will through it all again in a trial. I have found myself full of anger and hate. That is not who or what I am. I keep trying to get my mind back straight and be a forgiving man. My wife tells me vital is a bunch of old guys bitching about everything or posting dumb shit (well maybe) but its therapy for those of us who for some reason wont talk the hard stuff to those close to us. Life is tough. To all my vital friends who are going through shit right now, im with you. Chin up guys

I use Vital as a type of therapy from time to time. I clown around to share laughs. I post to attempt bringing people together. I also post to get things off my chest. Even advice.  Sometimes, I just read the stories of others and, see we’re not so different after all. Whether it’s interests, hobbies or, experiences.

I’m truly sorry. The only thing I can say is, people who have committed crimes with women and, children involved, will definitely be the ones who have it the roughest in prison. It’s a shame you aren’t in California. He’d be a 🔪 on site.

That's rough.

The wife and I get to babysit the grand daughters this weekend. Aged 5 and 2. I'll give them extra love.

At the time of the accident I truly felt sorry for him as he didn't just cause our family loss he also hurt (emotionally) his family. Annissah was just 19 and was getting ready to spread her wings when it happened. I was forgiving at 1st but as he started all the games that went away. His family is a piece of shit. In the court room his Dad was making smart ass comments to my ex son in law. Who really does that? Then he takes a plea deal and then gets a new high dollar lawyer and recants it, now has appealed and the appeal overturned it. Annissah and my youngest daughter are 6 months apart. I will be ok I just pray for my wife and my oldest daughter as this is a living hell for them. I actually am feeling a little better typing this and knowing that I'm not lone going through shit. I feel bad for some of you guys going through shit worse than me. Chin up guys. Thanks for listening.

"Later"

-    Talk to you later.
-    I will call you later.
-    See you later.
-    We will walk later.
-    I will tell you later.

We leave everything for later, but forget that "later" does not belong to us.

Later...    ...our loved one are no longer with us.
Later...    ...we do not hear them and we do not see them.
Later...    ...they are just memories.
Later...    ...the day becomes night,
               ...the force becomes helpless,
               ...the smile becomes a grimace,
               ...and life becomes death.

"Later" become "too late".

Do it now.

Heart goes out to you brother! First rule is parents (grandparents)  should not outlive their kids. But for it to happen that way I can't imagine the hurt. I'm angry along with you! I don't know how I would react in a situation like that but forgiveness is not something I think I could do.

The accident happened 12/15/2023, after him dragging it out in the courts it took a tool on my daughter and my wife. now he gets a redo after agreeing to a plea deal. Now all the old feelings become new again, only this time I'm angry. sorry I keep repeating myself. Thank you to all of you for listening and sorry to Chance for high jacking the thread.

Hey bud. This is exactly what some of these threads are for. Including this one. Vent away.

I’ve seen truly horrible things and, have been through some hardships. Sometimes this place has been the outlet I’ve needed. My uncles passing was one of the most recent. There was a wealth of support here during that time and, even now. I’ve made some truly great friends as well along the way. Here. In this very forum. Even within this thread.

Sometimes it’s good for us Neanderthals to lean on one another. 🤝
