Its crazy but I hear it so often.

Why are motocrossers so keen to give up a left testacle?
Is it because tracks are mostly left handed and without a left testacle, a rider would be able to get up a bit further over the bars going round a left hand corner? It all seems a bit excessive to me to gain maybe 0.3 seconds per lap.
