So that's the list so far, what battery do you recommend? I don't mind spending a bit extra if it will last longer.

I'd be doing a google search for Australian shops first and see what kind of deals you can get as shipping could cost a fair bit from the U.S, I guess you have probably checked shipping allready?

These guys in Adelaide don't have the Traxxas from what I see but they have a fair bit of Losi stuff
http://www.modelflight.com.au/catalog/Electric_Off_road-174-1.html

Haven't checked prices or whats the latest stuff for R/C these days as I haven't raced for 8 years, raced electric off-road 2wd, Truck and some 4wd from 94 to 2002 or so.

That duratracks charger you have is the way to go imo. everyone with lipo's that arent factory here in kansas city run that one because its the most decently priced. actually its very well priced for how it charges.

Heres some good info on lipos
http://sites.google.com/site/tjinguytech/charging-how-tos/lipo-terminol…

alot of research is good because these things are alot more dangerous then nimh batterys.

2S Hard Case

3S

2S vs 3S is kinda like a stock 450 and stewerts 450. depends what you want

3S is alot more powerfull and youll get alot more wheelie action. 2S is for some fun putting around. A 2S will do around 40-45 and a 3s will do around 60 in a slash.

Think I'll stick with the RTR, there's too many choices of cars as it is without having to choose motors and controllers.

Tobz one thing to keep in mind is the charger won't be 240V like we use in Australia and it will have a different plug on it. You will need to buy (locally) an adaptor to suit.

The SC10 is available as RTR in the 2WD version. It looks like you can get the Brushless SC10 RTR on ebay for under $300 plus shipping. Also give RMZ a go and see what he can do Wink
Or, wait a little while for the SC10 4x4 that is about to come out. The thing is sick. Its enclosed belt drive and has alot of tuning features. I wanna get one if people around here start racing 4x4 again.

Howcome noone on here has mentioned the Traxxas Revo 3.3, it seems like a really nice truck for backyard bashing or to take to the moto track to play around on. What do you guys think about that?
2/10/2011 11:41am
The good thing about a Traxxas Rc car is you can smash them into walls and not have to worry about really breaking them... If you want the best quality truck right out the box Any Team Associated RTR kit is good. If you want to do it right than I would say get the Factory Team Kit of there many models than you can set the car up to your likings with motor, servos, speed control, radio batteries, etc...... I have had my Team Associated SC10 factory team kit truck for 5 months and never broken a thing... Electric is definitely a lot easier to maintain but just like anything if you want your stuff to last its going to take some minor maintenance but nothing like a gas car or truck!

the stadium trucks are a very fast growing class also. 10 last night in KC!

Good question. People are running graphics kits instead of painting nowadays.

For sure, we,have been doing wraps for RC for several years.

Here's a couple bad cell pics of a couple of our cars.
The SC10 is based off our YZ125 graphics.

Slash 4x4 is our play truck until AE sends my SC10 4x4, the SC10 is out weekly racer.

Thanks, it's starting to get a little hard to overlook all the guys that have a team associated car.

I'm still leaning towards Traxxas, just to hack around on a track in my backyard and at the mx track, etc.

Everyone is saying "traxxas are great, but if you want one to race, the SC10 is the go"

i'm not sure how to read that, in a comparable difference, is it like buying a wr250 and saying "it's an okay bike, but if you want cutting edge, the yz250 is the go"

TOo many freaking choices.

When's the SC10 4x4 due out?

It's more like a TTR to a YZ

Traxxas is hard to beat for bashing.
They are VERY tough.

SC10 4x4 should be out late March.

do you sell the graphics kits? ive tried painting some and then just putting stickers on it but it looks like crap after a day of running it haha
and tobz, the sc10 works for running in your backyard. theyll take pretty much any jump you want to do with it, the only way ive broken it so far was from running pretty much wide open into a wood pole. but i put that thing through hell and it just keeps on going

Anyone care to comment on the Traxxas Revo 3.3 and E-revo? The Revo 3.3 seems to have won RC car action magazine awards. What do you guys think of it?

Tobz another BIG thing to keep in mind is buying parts for it when it breaks (and it will break at some stage).

Team Associated is a lot more common in Australia than Traxxas. I'm not saying there aren't Traxxas cars and parts around, there's just more TA stuff. You don't want to be waiting a couple of weeks for parts to turn up from the US + the extra shipping $$$.

Also check prices in Australia online and on ebay. There are some good deals to be made. Expect to pay $80-$100 shipping ex USA for a car and accessories.

Thanks, i'm googling australian remote control car's and i'm finding alot of prices, etc on Traxxas but not alot on Team Associated stuff.

But i think i've been convinced to probably go for the SC10 factory kit RTR and just get on with it. It was either that or the 4x4 traxxas, but i think i'll get used to the 2wd. The Associated seems about 200 odd bucks cheaper aswell. Sick of looking, umming and arring

Edit: So, final decision will probably be this http://rchobbies.com.au/store/product_info.php?cPath=24_41&products_id=…

....just need a battery with it

Here are a couple of monster scheme paint jobs that I have done. The fluorescent yellow and green logos do not show up to good on the camera. Everything on the bodies is all painted though, no stickers.

Here is a SC body that I did for my daughter.
