Possible rebuild project

Thinking about buying this 2003 CRF450 from my father in law and doing a complete rebuild/refresh. Bike is in great condition for its age and runs very well so I know it’s a solid base. Is anyone starting to restore these early 450’s now that they are nearing vintage status? IMG 1906 3

If I were going to build one of this generation…it would be 07-08….thats the best of them….I have been patiently waiting for the right one to pop up close to me….they sold a ton of these but surprisingly certain parts seem to be hard to come by…..like a good pipe….

That would be the ideal model year to build but they are hard to come by and people want a premium for really clean ones. I kinda wanted to do a Windham Factory Connection replica but it might be hard sourcing some of the era correct parts

What does “the right one” mean to you? I have an ‘06 you might be interested in if you’re serious.

I get that. Mines clean. Never been apart in any way. Original everything except tires. Good luck with your search.
