heres a thought.....and a fun idea
my thoughts...
michael jordan was boo'd at msg
lance armstrong was boo'd in france
carmichael was boo'd when he left kawi
brett favre has been boo'd plenty
shumacher has been boo'd
its ok. it means we have real fans. it doesnt mean our fans are a bunch of racists (tho, in this case, anyone who's sat in a booing section of anaheim has heard plenty of n-bombs to argue the contrary). when people care and are passionate, we cheer and we boo. its good for sports.
boo'ing is not a big deal or black eye on the sport. get over it.
and it doesnt make bubba a villain. reggie miller got boo'd plenty in his day. he loved playing the role of villain. mike alessi got boo'd plenty when he was the hype, he seemed to relish playing the role of villain, it made me and others instant fans. but just because bubba is boo'd, doesnt mean he is that role or that the boo'ing is something that should be seen so negatively here. tho i contest, that when he stopped dancing, tried to asked for us all to call him james instead of bubba, and dropped the 259.....the kid gloves came off. tho it probably had more to do with challenging RC than anything.
hell, i hated RC if only for the fact that he took down my hero, MC. I rooted for bubba simply to see RC get taken down. its called being a fan. not a big deal. the sport needs this.
boo'ing is the ultimate form of flatery.
as for my idea:
how fun would it be if tickets in the stadium were sold based on sections of fans....a bubba/yamaha blue section.....a roczen/ktm orange section.....a villopoto/kawi green section.....a reed/white? section......and canard, dungey and so on.
like the way they do for ferrari or all the motogp teams in those world championships.
it would make for some very cool and marketable overhead shots of stadiums.
just a crazy thought. would be fun.

Booing is a part of sports and been around a long time before JBS. If there are racial undertones then that sucks, but there is also no need to make anything more of it than it is. Passionate fans like who they like and for the most part dislike everyone else. Booing is the only way fans have to show their dislike for someone and cheering is the way they show their support. As amazing as it may sound, just because you are fast as hell on a dirt cycle does not equate to fan favorite. No need to bring politically correct BS into the mix, we 1st amemdment the shit out of all the other nonsense in the world I would say booing is the least of our worries.

Booing is horrible. It acomplishes nothing, people do it cause it makes them feel better for what 15 seconds or so.
Booing is a way to show displeasure with actions that we have little or no control over. Allowing actions that you have little or no control over to dictate your behavior, especially in a situation where it can effect another persons life, is not just classless and completely lacking honor, it's also a sign of immaturity and ignorance.
The fact that there are so many people out there that boo is proof of how low we still are as a society.
It is a fact that by booing you are potentially empowering the person who is being booed. When booed they confirm that people are reacting to their actions and they can turn that energy around, probably what JS did last night.
Have you ever experience a person that took the saying "if you do not have anything nice to say don't say anything" to heart?
I have, and I can promise you it is much worse to get nothing out of a person than to get some boos. To make a statement, or some action and have everyone sit there, silent, waiting? That is perfect proof that people disagree or did not like what you are doing. And it is made evident without people making an ass of themselves.
the boo'ing is indeed empowering. just ask reggie miller or michael jordan.
but whether you or anyone else doesnt see the the silver lining doesnt mean it isnt there. there is little more flattering to a focused athelete than to be boo'ed.
those of you who are so offended by someone caring enough to boo....as if that actually hurts the riders feelings. yet you dont have any problem with the very nature of the sport being life threatening at nearly every moment.
the very nature of the sport is more dangerous than any PED....yet aldon baker is made into a villain around here (based on nothing but speculation might I add)....and if a rider was even remotely suspected of actually using 'roids....he'd get much worse than boo'd by fans. meanwhile its pretty much common knowledge and constantly waved in our faces that the MONSTER ENERGY PC bikes are as illegal as it gets.....and nobody seems to care.
wild extremes in logic.
this sport is so odd at times. the things that are considered out of line and are frowned upon have no bearing on logic or reason. its like this sport is governed by the catholic church or something.
the constant n-bombs that go off at every sx event and the bigot statement thrown towards every french rider goes on without anyone batting an eye. and please dont act like it doesnt go on. its way more frequent than any here will care to admit but the truth is, its pretty rampant.
like said above by someone else....there is so much more important things to get hung up on than boo'ing.
On the other hand, we are so lucky that we live in a country in which we are allowed to "boo".
Free speech and all that.
Live and let live.
I would like to see other people have that kind of emotion and show the fans they are really happy they won. Instead of the cookie cutter responses of let's say....Dungey or Tickle
seriously, have you ever traveled abroad?
I dont know about you, but just because they parade a bunch of lame ass motorcycle cops out at the pre-race ceremonies and try to drum up a bunch of national pride, i quickly reminded how free im not every time i see some asshole cop start shit in the anaheim cop or make a situation worse in the stadium.
funny story.....sitting in my seat at dodger stadium during pre-prace crap and the motorcycle cops drive out. obnoxious idiot behind me yells out "heeeeell yeaaaah, gooo teeeeam americaaaa! you cant do that in france!!!!"
i was like, WTF? cant do what? crash your cop bike in the dirt in front of 40,000 people....have you ever even been to france?
he looked at me like i'd just asked him to solve a rubiks cube. and to think this guy has an equal vote with me come election time. makes you almost hate democracy.
and needless to say.....the bike cops were boo'd pretty heavily at dodger stadium. very funny.
when bubba was called bubba....and he was dancing....he was the most exciting thing we'd ever seen. he was having fun and made it fun for us to root for him.
i wish we saw more of that kid these days. i certainly dont remember boo's back then. tho there probably is no causation between the two to be honest.
Pit Row
um.............all over the middle east......
Asia as well, and some of south America. Oh,, and also add to that some of the south Pacific.......
I have traveled, and I have witnessed it first hand.
Yes, I have seen other countries where soccer fans go nuts, worse fans in the world.
I was just saying to let others say what they want, ok? Chill out, Mr. Know It All.
Just to put things in perspective. btw - Mod Killer, that post about the bike cops is priceless. I just read it out loud to a room full of people. (no boos were heard)
I'd imagine there's a pretty common thread between each on the social groups of thought, be they conservative, liberal or moderate.
a person motivated by irrational enthusiasm (as for a cause); "A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject"--Winston Churchill
It's not because you've traveled abroad that you visited countries. I often travel to Houston but I don't know shit about the city and it's people.
Oh wait, does that make me dumb? Disregard the booing. Never happened.
I agree that booing is pretty stupid, but to each his own. If they get off on booing someone, as redneck and rude as it may be to some it is their business and not ours.
Different people are raised in different environments, what some consider childish or rude others consider normal. Oh well.
