This little D shaped rod is stuck. I've worked on these Showa forks a hundred times and have never had this happen. The clicker seemed to be working normal before I took it apart. I turned the clicker all the way out before I started working on it.

Pull rod out and take other end apart Should be able to pull apart w needle nose pliers Grab flat part
Bump
Anyone? I need to have to this done by this weekend. The clicker seems to be working just fine. Is there any harm in continuing servicing the inner cartridge with that rod still in? I don't see that it would affect anything.
Grab the flat part with some needle nose or gently jam a flathead or a Torx bit?
I tried grabbing it with needle nose. Won't budge.

Thread rebound adjuster back on and try working it around again. Might just be in a bind.
Ultimately, probably won’t hurt to leave in place. But make sure it clicks properly before reassembly.
Should be fine to leave in Blow air in both ends to make nothing is blocked
Yeah I left it in. I don't know why I thought it would prevent me from servicing the rest of the cartridge. I don't think these forks have been serviced a long time. The rebound clicker barely turned previously. Now after cleaning and servicing it works like new.
