I have friends that ride in the pro class on the national level; I read the same print you guys do. My question for you is this:::Is Chad Reed really all that bad? No one that knows him seems to have anything good to say about him. Does he just not play well with friends? Is everyone just picking on him? Does a bear defocate in the woods? Is he really all that bad? Motominds want to know.

I must say i was very surprised at how many boos he got at Dodger Stadium. I was also surprised at the amount of applause Stewart; of course he got some boos too.

I think Chad's a warrior with a legacy that's very in tact.

The guy is tied with the "fastest man on the planet" for SX wins, please.

I always thought that boos were a little odd. I mean this isn't WWE for Gods sake. As far as Chad it is still early.

I agree. Fuck the haters. It's always funny how "fans of the sport" use any opportunity to marginalize the accomplishment of these incredible athletes. I think James gets it the worst. I thank that guy for being part of one of the best battles I've seen in SX recently. I think those "fans of the sport" are counting the days until James' career is over. Stupid.

Chad is a good guy. He is very fast and smooth. Im not his #1 fan or anything but I don't think he deserves to be bashed. If you can beat him, then feel free to bash him.

Did you really need to use caps lock for the title of this thread?

Chad is a good dude. He just tells it like it is... If he feels good he says it. If he wants to whine about something, he whines about it. Atleast it isn't the same thing over and over. He is still fast and can still win, He is not RC. Who could go fast on a 1971 Bultaco. He needs to feel comfortable. When he does he will be battling for the top spot.

Chads the man, the monster truck crowd loves JS so they boo for Reed. Which is odd considering the liberal left is always telling me what a bunch of racists NASCAR & Monster Trucks types are............

No.

Chad seems cool to me. I never have understood all the hate. Whining? Seriously? The guy answers a question and the haters say he's whining. The only one's whining are the haters.

Chad's attitude and demeanor have really made me like more as a racer. Dude has worked his ass off to get where he is. Him and Ellie came half way around the world and made a great life for themselves! Good for him and ... fuck the haters!

Wow, lot's of Chad threads lately...

Hopefully a good omen for this weekend!

Never met him, but he deserves the utmost respect for at least being a multi-time champ. Plus, he's still out there doing it when he clearly doesn't have to be. Chad is definitely the man!

Oh, and friggin' hot wife doesn't hurt... Smile

Reed is a great rider no doubt, do you really think he is paying all the bills out of his own pocket?

Well I couldn't hear the boos on TV. It's a bummer that the CA rounds always have to find somebody to boo each year, but it happens.

Reedy is awesome. I hope that the boos from a couple of stadiums don't deter him from sticking with his team. He made it happen in a very short time and is even still improving. This is a huge contrast to having a team do everything for him. Obviously riders do things like this based on their desires as racers, but as far as I'm concerned, it is doing just as much or more for the fans.

Does Reed deserve any bad press? Hell no. He's the only rider who tried to run RC and Stewart's speed in MX and he's proven himself in SX. The 450 class is stacked this year and a top five finish means you're hauling. Reed doesn't get slower as the season gets longer. Just like Dungey and Canard, Reed has the drive to make improvements and find more speed. The only drawback with Reed that I could see was a few years ago is when DV made him look bad during autograph sessions. DV enjoyed the mingling and Reed just came across that these sessions were annoying. As the years have passed, it seems that Reed is just more relaxed and less serious in dealing with the fans. Any racer that gives it 100% deserves only good press. Reed's one rider that you know will finish consistantly in the top 5 and he's doing it while starting his own race team. Not too bad!

I dont blame any pro for not wanting to deal with the fans. Have you read the shit over at Vital MX????????

No seriously, even if I was a pro I dont think I would want to do autograph stuff, its race day, need to focus, be on my game. These guys arent rock stars, they dont perform, get totally wasted bang 50 groupies get on their bus and sleep it off till the next stop.

Who do you think you are posting such well though out, concise and intelligent thoughts in this place? You've singlehandedly brought the IQ level up in here a few points. What were you thinking??

You're right but there is something to those autograph sessions that does build up your fan base. Windham, DV and RC were good at interacting with the fan base during these sessions and it probably didn't hurt the sponsors too. Not all riders like these sessions and that's alright. Reed just didn't seem like he wanted anything to do with these sessions. Nothing wrong with just wanting to race.

Sorry.. it wasn't me..I was slumped over drunk in my recliner and my 4 year old son got a hold of my wireless keyboard. He typed this shit and hit "Submit" before I could kick the keyboard out of his midget hands.

RC had to work at it...big time. Reed obviously worked on his word choice as well. How many times have we read assumptions and accusations based on a single word choice in a rider interview? The infamous "chump" comes to mind.

You are right, though. The publicity game is part of it, and it can go a long way to keep sponsors and support if your results aren't quite up to par. These guys are part politician.

With all things considered, I think that his results thus far are above par. Even if he stays 2nd - 5th all year, I would say as a fan---job well done.

I think Chad had a rough couple years where he wasn't very happy with things (07-08) and that is when certain people started drinking the haterade. I think he has really changed since getting on the Suzuki and having fun again and has been a lot better in interviews and with the fans.

He sat outside of his truck with Ellie and Tate talking to fans and media for well over an hour after the race in Phoenix. I thought he was really cool and seemed happy with how things were going. He is my kids favorite rider so it is nice when he takes the time to talk with them.

I think he'll be on the box pretty soon and shut a lot of people up.
1/27/2011 7:36pm
I have my favorites (canard and villo), and while I may have cheered louder for them in the intros in LA, I cheered for the other guys too. You can't have great battles without the other guys, I appreciate how hard they work too, I just like my guys personalities and riding styles better.

Exactly. Postings by message board wackos does not constitute press.

As a former Reed hater, I must say; watching Guyb's interviews with him, Reed seems to have matured (at least media wise) quite a bit.

He's moved from dickhead to hmmm? Very interesting guy?
