Please pray for my mum…

UPDATE: Mum was able to eat some apple purée today so that’s another win, and I got her to brush her hair as an exercise.

It’s been an awesome few days and there’s always improvements, even from my morning visit to the afternoon/evening visit, she’ll show progress and say more words.

One thing she hasn’t lost is her sense of humour (my whole family has always had a weird one) and and she thought it was quite funny when I said it would be funny if she pushed the buttons on the bed and folded herself like Nordberg in Naked Gun.

The physio lady came in this morning and showed me some stretches for her right arm as I asked if I could do them every visit. She was so lovely and went above and beyond to make sure mum was comfortable.

I can’t wait to go and see mum again tomorrow.💪😌❤️💃

UPDATE:. Mum is saying more and more words and even asked how the girls were (my sister’s daughters), when I was coming back, and said goodnight when I left☺️.

She ate a whole apple purée yesterday (while I wasn’t there) and had quite a few teaspoons of Yoplait strawberry yogurt when I went back for my afternoon/evening visit (I asked her if she wanted it)…

I asked if she wanted to try the dinner and she was NOT a fan😂 and waved it off and shook her head. We tried 3 of the 4 things in the packet and never got to the beetroot. I can still taste it (I tried it before she did).

The only negative things from the day is how tight her right arm/wrist was when I did some light stretching, and the stuffed animal my sister left on her bed last night with a picture of my dad on a key ring attached to it going missing when they changed her bedding… It was bigger than than a chihuahua so no idea how they lost it.

Again, much more to say but I could go on and on. Just grateful to be able to share this. Again, this is like therapy for me and I appreciate anyone just reading these posts.

💪😌❤️💃

Rekindling last night's campfire, drinking coffee, and reading this.

Pretty good way to start a Saturday morning.

Cheers brother, that’s awesome and I really appreciate the reply, it means a lot.

I can still taste that putrid “food” even after beers and my dinner…

Now that she is able to have things like that I’m going to either make my own purées and or buy some good quality ones as well as yogurt, and I’m getting some liquid supplements from the compound chemist and health food shop on Monday to give her.

I know what she needs and is not getting but understand the hospital (a major one) is not going to provide her with the best food and whatnot as much as it sucks.

Oh and the only reason I said the stuffed dog was bigger than a chihuahua is because my sister has one 😂. Her name is Chica.

*She has a type of terrier? (I’ve always been hopeless with dog breeds) and her oldest daughter and I refer to them as “Biggie and Smalls”.😊

Mum and Mika *(pronounced Me not Mi). I wanted to post in the “Name this bitch” thread. Bubba was before her. 2002-2016.

It has for a lot of us I think. Ezza, we're all over the moon that your mum is doing so well!. Prayers that she continues making these improvements!

No real update today but, it’s the first time she was visibly sad… I asked if it was because she wanted to go home and she said yes.

It broke my heart but I didn’t show it and just tried to keep the mood light and positive. My sister showed her some videos of her great granddaughter and she lit up so it was another amazing day aside from her starting to realise what’s happening.

She’s improving day by day and that’s all that matters. I keep telling her it will take time but she will get better and just to focus on healing.

Can’t wait to go see her again tomorrow.

💪😌❤️💃

That's great to hear that Mum is getting better day by day and before you know it, you'll all be back home together.

We are all pulling for your Mum and will continue to send strength and prayer.

Thanks for the update Ezza....

One day you can tell her about everyone all over the world that she is at the forefront of our thoughts every morning. How big her support group really is!

UPDATE: Mum is starting to be able to talk more and more coherently and say “new words” on both French and English. She shook her head and rolled her eyes when I told her my sister is eating microwaved meals😂 and had a few laughs.

I got her to use tissues to wipe her mouth when I was giving her yogurt but didn’t really need to; I just wanted to see if she could do it and am trying to do my own rehab during my visits.

We have a meeting with the hospital tomorrow which I’m not looking forward to but, my sister told me that in the not too distant future they will transfer her to a different one… The one where I was born and less than a 5 minute drive for me, my sister (unfortunately her daughters live about 40 minutes away), my sister in-law and my niece and nephew!😃

So friggen stoked!

Thank you again for all the support everyone. This thread has helped more than you can imagine.

The hospital is in the red circle, my sister lives to north of the blue circle and my sister in-law to the south, and I’m in the green circle.

Hey Ezza, good to hear that your Mum is making progress...onwards and upwards.

I jumped on Google Earth to check your neck of the woods. Western Oz...stunning place you live in.

(All this time I had been thinking you lived in the USA)

Keep them updates coming.

Thank you Boom. Today she made even more progress and blew the speech pathologists away! The doctor was nice but said what I knew a doctor would say (it was not that bad) but still left on a massive high from seeing such improvements.

I’m heading back in a few minutes and my brother’s son and daughter are dropping in too.

Thanks again for all the positive energy everyone. Please keep her in your thoughts/prayers.💪😌❤️💃

P.S Boom, Belmont  NSW (east coast). Look up Lake Macquarie NSW. I’ve lived here my whole life.

I’m ageing myself but i don’t care. Chad Reed grew up in Kurri Kurri which is about 40minutes northwest and I shared the same clubs as him. I’m a year and 7 days younger so got line up with him quite often.

We get great whites swimming into the lake through  that channel (Swansea channel. The only way in and out) on occasion.

All good as there is actually a Belmont in Perth (Western Aus) comes up in auto fill all the time when I have to enter my suburb. Thanks again Boom.💪😌❤️💃

UPDATE: My sister took the day off work and spent a good 6 hours with mum before heading off to the compound chemist to get her some things (they needed her medication chart and it took a few hours to print it out😠).

The speech pathologists came in and did some exercises and mum did bloody amazing! She’s saying more and more words and short sentences in both French and English.

I got her to try and feed herself some fruit purée (bought by us, not the crap they give you at the hospital) with the spoon and she was able to with a bit of help. Even held the teaspoon like one normally would!

She’s eating more each day and they said they will slowly reduce the amount she’s getting from the feeding tube so that’s another huge step in the right direction.

Yet another awesome day and they just keep getting better.💪😌❤️💃

Thank you my brother, I’m sorry I didn’t message you about it. There are still quite a few people that I have yet to tell as I’m all over the place but slowly getting back into a somewhat steady routine.

I appreciate the kind words, thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE: Mum just continues to amaze me every time I go and see her. The morning/afternoon visit was so incredible and the afternoon/evening visit was next level! There’s so much I want to say but that pretty much sums it up.

Thank you everyone for keeping her in your thoughts and letting me share this journey.

so happy to hear the progress. As much as this has been therapy for you I think it has been for the rest of us as well. Give mom an extra big hug and tell her its from Ohio.
