Time for a New Big Bore KTM Project to start after the 550 Two Stroke .
Found a rare 1998 -380 in a terrible Condition in a Farm in Czech Republic back in 2024
The only Picture i found on the Phone shows the Condition
It was Running but had a Bearing broken on the Transmission

First Step in 2024 was to make it Ready to Ride with fresh Engine Bearings and to see how it rides
It turns out that this Engine seems to be one from the KTM Test Department, it has a Hydraulic Clutch but was stamped as an 97 Engine, (97/98 was Cable Clutch) , longer Rod and Boost Port in the Cylinder
This Picture shows how it looks Today, want to collect all Parts and then start the Full Rebuild
Parts are a little easier to find then for my 500/550 KTMs, very similar to the 250-300 except Cylinder and Crankshaft so for safety i collect spare Engines for each Bike
KTM Two Stroke : " I collect Spare Engines for Each Bike"
Absolutely Classic!.
I've noticed your bench 'clutter' throughout your postings - Great Stuff! Not that you can call complete, assembled engines 'clutter'.
I guess I've bit of that going on - trying to sort ( just a tiny bit of) my Ducati Corner the other day, I was surprised at the amount of Pantah based Engines I've got - a few waiting for sorting and assembly. I'm trying to get at least 2 bikes out of my 'hoarding' of them through many years, a Track Day bike and an Everyday / Funday Road bike, but, it's a bit far down on my list of 'things to be done'. I'd say around 2 years away, if I make it that far.
The Shop
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
The most important and also expensive Part on that Projekt will be a Suspension Upgrade , the OEM WP Extreme Fork rides like a Traktor with a flat Tire.
I was looking around for a while but Modern Air Fork for 700-800€ and Öhlins or Cone Valve Forks for 1000-1500€
Then two weeks ago I was Lucky to find a completely SXS Suspension Set for 600€, Fork looks like low Hours for 2005 Model
Meanwhile I took the SXS Fork into the 360 SX and see how it performs
