After this championship by Kenny, I had a little thought in my head that I explored by going through all the results.

Now, remember, stats aren't attacking anyone. They are just stats. They can help illustrate just how much something matters compared to other similar moments, but they don't necessarily indicate whether someone doesn't matter. That's not always a calculable number.

Ken Roczen is the first 450SX champion in the 21st century to have a teammate(or teammates) who:  raced every race and still ended up out of the top 10 of the championship

AND

the first 450SX champion in the 21st century to have a teammate(s) who:  raced every race and never got a Top 5 result.

Only one other champion had a teammate race any more than half the races in the season and never get a top 5 result (2009 Stewart/Chisholm), and in 2023 Chase Sexton came the closest to joining the club when his teammate Dean Wilson raced every race and managed to get 10th in the Championship and snagged a 5th place result in the final race of the year.

The champion who theoretically had the worst teammate in relation to their own performance in the Championship was Ryan Villopoto with Jake Weimer, but although Jake missed tons and tons of races during his Kawasaki tenure... he was pretty good when he did show up and would often still end up with top 5's sometime in the season.

From what I can tell, for the 21st century,  the best "2nd best guy" on a Championship winning team is a battle between two frenchmen: David Vuillemin and Marvin Musquin.

Neither of those would be true if Anderson didn’t have his mid-season issues. He had two top 5s this year and surely would have finished top 10 in points.

I agree. And Jake Weimer might’ve been the best teammate ever if he could keep off the dirt, and Sexton might be 3x champion if his front wheel weighed the right weight.

It’s stats - it cuts through maybe’s and almost’s and gets to real probability of a #1 season when your teammate has had major struggles in his season in whatever way.  Historically, that stat line was 0/25.

Colt would still be on the team whether Anderson was racing or not. The OP doesn't mention anything about it being the champion's only teammate

I actually did. Jason only raced 41% of the season.  he still wouldn’t qualify for any of the records I spoke of.
