1993 YZ250 and a Rad Valve Q's.

I have a virgin motor 1993 YZ250. Stock motor, pipe & silencer.

Installed a Rad Valve.

Instructions say to Jet 1 to 2 sizes leaner on the main and possibly 1 size on the pilot. I just cannot believe I have to go that lean...

Is this true? I would be going from a 350 to as small as a 330 (in theory). And a possible drop from a 45 to a 40 on the pilot.

Yes I can jet, no problem there. Reason I ask is I do not have the correct brass in stock and when I go to the track I want to have what I need to jet.

I am waiting on Pro Circuit to make a run on the works or platinum pipe and I assume might have to go with fatter jetting.

Can anybody shed some light on this subject?

Rider skill, ambient temps, track conditions and fuel type will also come into play…you will be on the safe side with richer jetting to start…if its way too rich you can lean the needle clip 1 position until you have the proper jets…I have used rad valves in multiple bikes, its not always a given you have to lean things out…picked up this very low hr 93 before covid…did a quick makeover on it…never rode it….IMG 4335 3

Sharp scooter Sandman!

You have given me hope that I could possibly get this done with the needle.

Thanks!
