I hope you have better luck than I. I didn't have a lot of luck with the buckle/strap combo on the Forma's. Maybe I just like my boots tighter than the straps can deal with. At the tension I like, I found them hard to buckle after 1 ride and have broken the straps at the little bridge that the buckle engages with over time. The memory foam inside is nice, especially when new, but I thought it packed out in the first 5hrs of use. They definitely aren't light. I was surprised when I put on an old pair of Tech 7 after riding in Predators all day. They were noticeably lighter, like you just did a max effort on the leg extension machine and when took 50lbs away - kinda like that feel.

Merry Christmas guys!

Just a little update to where I am with the boot situation. The Forma Predator boots turned up but they sent me a US11 instead of a US12. They are too narrow for my feet and my toes were touching the ends. The quality of the boots are absolutely amazing, and they look so good, but are definitely heavy. I'll need to send them back, but not sure if I want to try the next size up due the weight and narrow feel.

So I've tried the following boots -

Fox instinct (current boots) - falling apart and soles wearing at only 8hrs, smell, fit well with no pain.

Leatt 5.5 Flexlock - Really painful on my bad right foot, buckle dug into my foot in same area, very stiff but great support, well made

Tech 7 - had these for 4 years, lasted well, hurt sides of my feet, not very comfortable or supportive.

Tech 10 - Slight pain on side of bad foot and inner ankle, heavy, very supportive and well made.

Forma Predator - heavy, narrow feel (although boots I tried are 1 size too small), very very well made and awesome quality.

I don't know where to go now. Ideally I'd like comfort, light or medium weight, good support, wide foot bed but ability to close top buckle tight for my skinny calves. I like traditional sole type boots rather than moulded soles, but it's not essential

Sounds like you need to start your own boot company haha! I hope you find a solution.

Haha yeh I don't normally give it much thought, just buy a pair I like the look of and use them whether they hurt or not. But this time round I want to try and find something that fits the bill. Making another run at the vets championship next season so ideally want something that will help rather than hinder my performance on the bike

Aside from a bad ankle, I have bunions too. Tried many boots, SG12’s worked best, however, bunions hurt. I used a propane torch, heated that area, and squeezed boots in a large vise to custom shape. Kept it in vise till it cooled down, reshaping that area. Being plastic there it worked perfect. Sounds lame I know but pain went away. Not sure if SG12’s are wide enough from seeing your pic, but if you find a wide enough boot for your ankle, maybe you too can “custom” mold the side to reshape the right boot, if the side is plastic. Gotta think outside the box!

Thanks for that ! went trawling thru old posts as i’ve got a bunion on left big toe that aches like a bitch at the end of the day of moto

Sidi are true italian and they tend to be narrow in the foot, very snig fit all over

gaernes are buitl pretty solid, little heavy and the hinge point is tight around the ankle but i like the feedback the sewn on sole gives.
