Commit to simple fundamentals. Build turn tracks and figure 8’s so he can understand bike lean angle and how far he can lean over.

Utilize cones for braking drills so he can understand how hard he can brake.

Focus on feet, hips, and back aka the core for proper technique. All you need is a photo to show the little lad and watch him and correct. If needed use a seat bump to encourage standing more.

Spend time burning gas and working on the little stuff and the rest comes

Go old school and get a couple tires and go out to the desert and have him do circles and figure eights around them.

We do some desert camping and trail riding. The upper parking lot at Pala has/had a cool figure eight we ride. I need to go up there and cut one back in.

When riding a figure eight should I set up markers for spots to sit down and stand back up?  Mix in standup laps?

We’re not trying to go pro or make Loretta’s, he doesn’t even want to race yet. He just loves ridding and want his safety to increase with his speed. Plus his mother is getting nervous with his speed. Haha

Stand the whole time going slow. Even if he has to swing wide once in a while. That's a pretty good balance drill. Make sure he's on the balls of his feet. Remind him the drills are not about speed .

My 6-year-old is getting pretty fast on his KTM 50 (for a once-a-week rider). He’s riding Vet and Main tracks when they’re not too busy. What videos or books can we use to work on technique? He’s getting to the point now where his speed is greater than his technique, and I need to learn how to teach him to ride safer. Any tips from the Vital peanut gallery? Thanks.

Buy a set of Golf clubs. 😂  Just let him ride he will develop his own technique and he’ll have fun and not burn out.

You can ask 10 different instructors and you’ll get 14 different techniques.
