Hey guys.....I just wanted to see what suspension service you may think is the best. I personally have only used Race Tech on my last 3 bikes ( except the 2010 Yami ).

I have ridden a few bikes that had work done on them by Enzo and RG3 , and I know it has a lot to do with the way the bike is set up , but there were a couple of those bikes that were amazing!

IF you did get your suspension done......who did you have the best luck with as far as the way the bike rode , cost and service??

I always use MCR. They are local (Michigan) and at the track every weekend for support.
My opion is, that there are many very good suspension companies, but what is important is support when you have a problem or need help. Finding someone that can help you right at the track is much better than having to ship your suspension to another state and wait for service or have to talk on the phone for support. Just my opinion.....

I use a guy who was the suspension tech at Kawasaki when RC was there , now works for the Worcs team.

Does fantastic work, doesn't charge an arm and a leg and comes out to the track to help dial it in.

That's the point I was trying to make, local and track support. MCR (Matt Crown Racing)
Matt is a former pro, builds Pastrana's bikes, his son (Joey) is a top national mini racer.
Plus, his prices are fair. Even if I just need my sag adjusted, he does it right at the track, no charge.

RG3 always treated me fair, and was willing to change whatever I needed if asked, for a minimal charge.

Thanks for the input so far guys. The reason I brought this topic up , is there is a friend of mine who owns a suspension shop "promotion suspension " ( Dave Taxel ) and he did my suspension on my previous bikes. he was ONLY race Tech at the time , but now does suspension tuning and setups for Race Tech, Factory Connection, Cannon Race Craft, Enzo, RG3, Ohlins, and KYB.



So you see , I have a choice now , and I'm not sure which one to go with. Really leaning towards RG3 and Enzo since those were what the bikes I had ridden before had and I really liked them. BUT....I haven't tried the others either....so I don't know.



BTW.....my new bike I have in the garage is a brand new 2008 CRF450. I ditched the Yamaha and got back onto a bike I always felt really comfortable on. The Yamaha was a great bike.....just feel more at home on that Honda.

Seems to be a trend that if you ride a Yamaha (enzo), Kawasaki (pc), Honda (fc), and Suzuki (rg3) but if you have a good local guy who is willing to help set it up with you then that's pretty hard to beat. I feel lucky my local guy is enzo...

ProAction of Kansas City did my Yamahas for years.

It worked well and really "paid off" when I was 11-hours from home at a Vet Natl and a leg started to leak.

The Wisconsin PA guy fixed it between motos, FOR FREE, saying any PA guy will back up another's work.

Saved my day!

Actually MB1 was a suspension outfit I was looking at. Only problem is the service end of the deal. If I had issues or problems I would have to ship the units off. And having someone at the track helping with the setups are really important to me. I have read a lot of really stuff on the MB1 stuff. That's one area in which I have always sucked at......setting up my suspension!

I also am no good at suspension set up. When you use a local guy, he can watch you ride and see what level you ride at plus no guess at your weight or the track conditions where you normally race . MCR uses KYB equipment, but their all good im sure. Good luck!

I LOVE my FC suspension on my 2008 YZ450... best Ive ever had and Ive had Race Tech and Local guys...

I can with like 2 clicks either way from their settings make the forks harder for sand or softer for rough outdoor stuff... amazing!

Did any of you guys go the extra mile to get the coatings done on the forks or shock? ( maybe both ?) I know that shit is expensive , but I was just curious.

Just go with ENZO, you won't be dissapointed, especially with the KYB stuff.

I've used RaceTech, Pro-action, PC and local companies but FC takes the cake. Local is always good, but it can't match up with the amount of R&D FC does. Its worth having to ship suspension to go to them. They are great guys to deal with and their stuff is amazing.

No coatings for me. I'm a Vet racer and at my level the most help for the money for me with todays 450's are proper suspension set up, correct tire choice and pressure as well as correct gearing for the conditions. If I want to add a little more to the motor, an after market pipe usually will do the trick.

Mb1, enzo, or FC for the hondas, but i agree a local company might be better because they are closer and can come to some of your local tracks! Do you think you can call those others on a saturday or sunday while your at the track? Or would they be at your local track? All of them are good depends on your budget, turnaround time! I have rg3 front and rear, rear linkage and full clamps, great set up for my rmz! My buddy works at FCR and my next bike i m gonna give it a shot, because he s local and reasonable in price, and he goes to a lot of local races and does set ups free after you get the suspension done! And he also rides, Dam jeffro back to the 08 huh? Did you get it from hillsborough?

Yeah MXB , I got it from Hillsboro motor sports. I honestly wasn't going to get another bike again after i took a couple good soil samples on my YZ450. I sold the Yamaha and then about a week later , Kevin Janson called me and said he still had 1 more 2008 honda left.

I had forgot I called him like a month before , and asked him to give me a reminder call when he was down to his last couple 08's. I wanted to at least "try " the new Yamaha , and it was a great bike for sure. But I always felt really comfortable on the 05' - 08' style Honda's . I don't like the way the 09' and 2010 Honda's feel at all.

Dang....there are a lot of guys in this thread that have suggested FC. And my friend Dave with Promotion Suspension does their work as well......maybe I'll be going that route then. it won't be until spring time and after a few rides on this bike , but I know I'll end up getting the suspension done.

Congrats on the 08, i had a 07 crf 450 great bike, now have a efi rmz, think iv e been spoiled by the fuel injection, but that 08 is a great bike! IMO one of the best bikes ever made, i saw they had them advertised awhile back figured since you were close thats where you got it. IMO on that bike FCor enzo or mb1, cant go wrong either way, my buddy got his bikes coated with the DLC, supposed to help prevent friction, increase seal life etc! Plus looks trick! Ckeck out CRF stuff .com sometime they have some trick stuff for hondas Don t know if i can go back to the carb now after but you never know,

The best suspension tool I've ever had is knowledge. My dad and I learned how to stack our own shims. All you have to do is copy one of the major suspension companies until you find something you like. The major players aren't doing anything special.




When I was on minis Ohlin suspension was absolutely the best out there.
