Yamaha 350?

Yeah the bike blew up and they also gave his son a clapped out 85 with a blown shock to race. Highly doubt Yamaha brought out some kind of 350 prototype to that race. 

The bike Kailub rode in Japan was supplied by the R&D team in charge of the FX line. It had been ridden a little previously, had a couple little trick pieces to it and like KR said in the comment, was not a full blown YZ450FX. Believe it was closer to a 400, but the bike itself started its life as a 450FX and just had some mods done. 

Doesn’t really mean anything specific is coming down the pipeline anytime soon, or maybe ever, but does show that the R&D guys are toying around with something in between a 250 and 450. 

I mean Yamaha does seem to be investing in offroad as of late. CW2 is running all sorts of different configurations 250FX, 250X, 450FX etc. 

Mostly off the shelf Big Bore stuff, but gives me hope of an evolving FX line to compete a little harder with the KTM group.
