Something about the formula (145-150lb top 10 rider + Factory 450 = Endless holeshots) is a no brainer to me. It is the bike... but it's Mike on the bike and not the other way around. Put him on a fuel injected KTM 450 and I really think it's problem solved. He can't come through the pack. Cairoli can. Mike never really beat anyone from running them down for 35 minutes. He did it by getting a great start and charging until he had nothing left and forced people to catch HIM.

not true....and let's not forget alessi was one of the only racers alive that could compete with james and rc on the 450 and wasn't afraid to bang bars with them. not short, not kub not jlaw not most everyone else...look it up.

I'm confused at what you're getting at. He did all of that on a 450. He did none of that on a 350. That's why I want to see him on the 450 again. He did finally finish a full outdoor campaign in the big class though and more props to him for that. This "god" like status you put on him for running with James and Ricky means nothing to me. Plenty of guys have banged bars with the best. It usually happens. In order for the best to beat you sometimes they have to pass you. That's usually when bar banging commences. It commences a lot less when you don't get holeshots all the time.

When you put it that way it sounds like he only did so well only because of his huge hp/ weight advantage on the 450.

I have faith in that kid, even on the 350. But he should be in SoCal turning laps w/ Short and RD getting that bike set up.
