"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the Maga gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them"

Effectively, what this says is that the alleged killer is part of the "Maga gang". There is no hidden meaning in the statement Kimmel made. It's blatantly stated. As for scoring political points, the first rule of politics is to never let a crisis go to waste. That applies to all politicians everywhere.

You didnt use the full qoute. You cut it mid sentance.  The rest of the sentance was ", and doing everything they can to score political points from it".

How would Maga score political points from Maga  being the shooter?  They would only score political points if the shooter was NOT maga right?

And again, I feel horrible for Kirks family and kids.

The statement refers to scoring political points due to the murder of a popular conservative, not the identity of the killer.

I guess that's one way to twist it.  I may agree if I had not seen the entire sentence.    I understood  the "it" to be the   ' as anything other than one of them'[...]  part of the quote.

The full quote below so that it can be seen complete.

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the Maga gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

The land of the free, and freedom of speech is under attack. Comedians like Jimmy Kimmel got suspended indefinitely by ABC, Stephen Colbert his 'Late Show' is getting pulled in May and all due to one man: President Donald Trump, who has now set his sight on Jimmy Fallon and uses all his power to get him cancelled by NBC. NPR calls it censorship by proxy.

Because it is natural that these major television stations bow to the current president demands, especially after his new threat to revoke broadcasting licenses if they do not do what he wants. You know like they do in current Russia, North-Korea, China and other countries where freedom of speech is worth nothing. That the FCC has a Pro-Trump chairmen will make this even a very real scenario. Not a far fetched idea.

Painful that Trump his fragile ego can't take a joke and is willing to take such outrageous actions, to stop the mocking. But stopping the support to a regime that is, as we speak, organizing an ethnic cleansing and this for almost two years already. That is something he doesn't want to take actions against. Same as taking actions against Brian Kilmeade who claimed that mentally ill homeless people should get an involuntary lethal injection. He is speaking about 594.000 voiceless people, but luckily not about President Cheeto. Otherwise he would be fired, cancelled or the broadcasting license of his employer could've been revoked!

Don't want to hear about what-about-tisme. But if you see this evolution, is this the new "Greater America?" Where foreign journalists get threaten that such a critical question won't be good for their home country, threatening and getting comedians fired, threatening broadcasters to pull their license...

Maybe it is because of the outrage inside and outside America? Dunno off course, if videos from foreign comedians (Lubach) are going viral because he takes aim to Disney, then there is probably a widespread discontent or widespread outrage.

Maybe Trump should've used the memorial to say how bad Kimmel was, oh damn the unmannered baboon did!

I am gonna guess that Jimmy got enough support that ABC saw there was more money to be made by keeping him and fighting or calling the FCC and Trump's bluff. I  don't think that things would have gone this way if there was an overwhelming amount of support for dropping him. Or even there was just a lack of pushback on getting rid of him.

His Youtube channel for the show has more subscribers than any of the others. Just over 20million, honestly his view counts seem low for that amount of subscribers . When I compare the view counts to other late-night shows they are higher or similar depending on which clips. But compared to other Youtubers with half the subscribers they views are lower.

This chart shows the peak time for searches on how to cancel Disney Plus.  Keep in mind they lost 700k subscribers around the end of 2024 and first quarter of 2025. That time on the chart is pretty low compared to when they suspended Jimmy.

This chart shows trends on Google. the numbers 0-100 show the peak 100 and relative to the peak ( numbers between 1 and 100, 0 means they did not have enough data) . So for this chart to show 100  around the time of suspension, it means that is  the most its ever been searched for. image 2113

Go to ABC's website, or the Jimmy Kimmel Live Youtube page and watch the video that is still up and unedited.  And come back  and give us the exact quote where he says it was MAGA that killed him.

You have to read into what was said to get what You are getting out of it.  I watch his Youtube replays of his shows with  my mother all the time. While I will say that he has said things that I consider a bit much. I disagree that he tried to place blame on anybody.

Kimmel said " We hit some new lows over the weekend with the Maga gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the figure pointing there was uh grieving. On Friday the Whitehouse flew the flags at half staff which got some criticism but on a human level You can see how hard the  President is taking this"    They then play a clip that a reporter says " My  condolences  on the loss of your  friend Charlie Kirk. May I ask sir. personally how are you holding up over the last day and a half sir? Trump replies  " I think very good, and by the way right there you see all the trucks. They've just started construction for the new Ballroom for the Whitehouse, which is something they have been trying to get for 150 years, and it's gonna be a beauty".    They cut back to Kimmel and Kimmel says " He's at the fourth stage of grief, construction ....... Demolition, construction.............  This is not how an adult grieves the murder of somebody he calls a friend. This is how a four year old morns a goldfish, and it didn't just happen once".  Then they play a clip of Trump on Fox and friends where he talks about getting the news while hes working on the ballroom .

I found Trump's response and focus on his Ballroom project to be more disrespectful towards Kirk than anything that Kimmel said about Kirk.

Let's say You replace Trump with Biden and ask him the same question , about the Murder of a friend, if he replied like Trump did, what would You say?  I would say that he's lost his mind, and or was very selfish.

Meanwhile the director of the FBI came out and said they had the guy 2 times before they got the real suspected shooter.  Should he also be fired for misleading the public on who the shooter was? I personally would take the word of the FBI director over a comedian about who the shooter was.

I might just be a horrible judge of peoples hidden meanings in their words, I personally did not take it as Kimmel blaming Maga. I took it as Kimmel saying that Maga was trying hard to let everybody know that the shooter wasn't a republican/Maga  and demonizing the democrats  for political points.

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the Maga gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than...

OK, another way of reading or hearing it,  the way I myself took it.  Was that Maga was letting everybody know it wasn't a republican that killed him.

They felt the need to point out that he wasn't a republican. Calling him everything else. Fare left, Leftist, radical left, Trans, etc.etc.  OR everything but a republican.

When it really doesn't matter if it was a Democrat, Republican , Independant or a horse.  Its not even close to the way even a minority of people would act, nevermind enough of one to say that it was an entire party behind it.

I don't think that all Trump voters care more about building a Ballroom than they care about Kirk's murder , just because Trump seemed to care more about it when that reporter asked him.  Why would everybody want to make it into a partywide thing. Stats show that people that vote either way have both been killers.  If something comes out that this was an organized hit , that was somehow voted on by secrete democrat ballot, then You could blame a party. Unfortunately people of all beliefs can be radicalized and turn into killers.

I think that a more tasteful thing would have been to say that there was no room for political violence no matter what.

It seems rather hypocritical to make it political  as they put the news out that Kirk was killed. Yet  when Democrats ask for laws to be changed after a school shooting they say how horrible it is to be political and that it is too soon to be talking like that. And say that its only appropriate to offer thoughts and prayers .

Let's say that ok, they are tired of Democrats using all those school shooting to make a case for a change in the laws and now they  wanted to capitalize on a  Death by gaining some political points like they say democrats are always doing. How is one better than the other?  Aren't the republicans guilty of being all the things they accuse democrats of being now?

What a way to try and change the focus of the topic. It was straight up a political assassination from a lefty tied in with the "Trans" community. The left has been grooming their side for a long time to resort to violence. So yes, it's a big deal that it's another lefty. Do you think he wrote "fascist" because he was groomed by people on the right. Sure the guy's fucked up in the head, but those are the people the left is grooming to do their dirty work. Also, that Jimmy K is coming back should prove it wasn't Trump, so there goes that fictional story.

Imagine being a leftist that's more upset about Jimmy Kimmel taking a mandated, paid vacation with his kids, than two young children losing their father to antifa violence.

@avidchimp I think the post with your reply got deleted as it says "no longer exists" when I try to respond from the email notification. My response to that is: My take on you is that you're one of the few genuine people on here that don't show up just to gaslight a topic. I have respect for your opinions and posts and appreciate your input. While we disagree on many things, I know this is your world and you know much more about it than I. Having said that, I don't care much that he's on or off the air. He's a small cog in the machine. It is nice to see that he at least got a slap on the wrist for what we all know was out right lies though.

Yeah, I have no idea where it went. Strange. Appreciate the kind words.

And I couldn't care less about Kimmel either as I don't watch late night tv anymore, that went out the window when Letterman retired. Jimmy was quite entertaining in the Kevin and Bean days as the sports guy with Adam Carolla, and made my mornings in the car more enjoyable, but has long ago jumped the shark IMHO. This decision to roll the dice with Trump and the FCC by bringing him back simply comes down to dollars lost. His show might have been losing money on paper, but their decision to put him on hiatus was costing them x100.

To my other post that disappeared, I had said Trumps rhetoric at the Kirk memorial was disgusting in light of the tragedy that had happened. Erika Kirk gave one of the best eulogies I have ever witnessed. Their faith in god and dedication to bettering society through that faith was truly inspiring. We need to do better as a collective against the people who are pitting us against each other.

I wonder how that works. So, is ABC still paying him even though their advertisers aren't getting what they paid for?

All three companies rely on ad dollars and eye balls to feed the broadcast model monkey, so it's really just a game of chicken, and my guess is Sinclair and Nexstar fold first. What are they going to air in it's place? Home shopping network stuff?

Contractually ABC has to pay Jimmy whether he is on the air or not.

I think he has enough money that it's not about the money to him. It's the notoriety of being able to bash MAGA. The party invites when you're the Golden Boy. The real question is, why are more people upset than actually watch his show?

I would go further and say this is about taking accountability. Jimmy could go to an online platform and probably recover some of the 72% of age 18-35 viewers that he's lost.

The real problem with him, and the leftists protesting this, is that they were told "no".

Ahh , this thread was about Kimmel getting  suspended and free speech. It's not the Charlie Kirk thread.

He also put " If you read this Your Gay LFMAO "  on another casing or bullet.  All of the quotes have been said to be  video game things.

Both parties are guilty of calling eachother fascists. There are videos if You wanna look them up.

I never said that he was not left leaning in his political views.  I  just said that Kimmel was not saying he was connected to Maga.

Both party's have bad people in them and they should do everything to distance themselves from those people and their beliefs. But are afraid to lose the votes.  Is the republican party the party of White supremacists ?David Duke the former leader of the KKK has endorsed trump along with other similar groups.  Or is that a small part of the party that most of the party disagrees with?

I am so glad I do not have any kids. The world is so messed up and people would rather fight over what they disagree on than try and work together on what they agree on. Its just getting worse, everytime I think some tragedy will unite the country, it rips the dived farther apart.

No, this is not a both party thing. You are part of the problem trying to promote that propaganda. Done with leftist propaganda. Just like the people trying to justify Danger Boy trying to play pachinco with Jo.

I’m thinking this shit is funny…

I’m going to enjoy the next few weeks 🤣

I’m guessing Nexstar & Sinclair have a much more realistic grasp of their demo’s than the Hollyweird slash WooHoo whackos.

But, hey, what do I know? 🤓

See we agree on stuff. I think that it was  a bad move by Deegan and Levi both to take eachother out like that. Deegans was much worse.

I'm sorry  you feel that way about reality.

My mother, dad and I are all registered as  independents and vote for a mix of parties ( well my dad did, he's no longer alive so he voted for Trump the last 3 elections' ) . The party meaning less than the candidate and their history. We  lean more left in some ways and right in others.

No we don't agree, this is not about Trump. And anyone that thinks Levi or Haiden intended to "take eachother out" can't be reasoned with. When you realize people are just distorting the facts, there's no point in dialog because all they want is to side track away from the issue. Just like implying that a racer "intended to take himself out".  While dialog is always best, it's apparent that it's a waste of time.

peace out

Sorry that was a mistake when I wrote that.  I meant that it was a bad move by both riders , each takeout as in both were bad. The takeout by Levi on Deegan and the take outs by Deegan on joe.

And that We agree with each other on the take outs by Deegan being a dumb move.

I had written multiple lines of text and then got the call to go help my mom ( she is stuck in bed after braking her hip, arm and collar bone and has Vascular dementia and is close to the end of the 5 years of life they gave her. So whenever she needs me I drop what I'm doing). and I hit post without noticing the mistake on what I wrote.  Believe it or not I really don't care.

You can dig through one of the many Deegan threads  and see I liked a post of Yours and posted about how I thought that both were dumb take outs . If You care to see that I'm not making it up.  I have no idea if You agree that Levi's takeout was dumb or not , I'll assume You think it was a great move since I think that both riders were idiots.

If You care to see that I'm not making it up.  I have no idea if You agree that Levi's takeout was dumb or not , I'll assume You think it was a great move since I think that both riders were idiots.

I don't have time to respond tonight other than to say I'm very sorry to hear about your mom. I know what you're going through and have great empathy for you and your mom.

Newsom or any California Democrat lecturing us on censorship is rich. They tried to outlaw Covid "misinformation" during the Scamdemic and have a long, long history of trying to censor political speech that they don't agree with. Luckily it was all struck down in court but cost the state taxpayers millions of dollars.

See we agree on stuff. I think that it was  a bad move by Deegan and Levi both to take eachother out like that. Deegans was much worse.

I'm sorry  you feel that way about reality.

The people who think Trump can do no wrong, are as bad as the people who think he can't do anything good. I'm not saying that You are either one of these people , I don't know You well enough.

My mother, dad and I are all registered as  independents and vote for a mix of parties ( well my dad did, he's no longer alive so he voted for Trump the last 3 elections' ) . The party meaning less than the candidate and their history. We  lean more left in some ways and right in others.

I will just have to agree to disagree.

I had a lot of thoughts on this but just not motivated to type them out. Your position that this is a "both sides" issue leads me to believe I'm wasting my time. And your time is better spent with your mom than responding to me. We'll agree to disagree on this. I wish nothing but the best for you and your mom.

Newsflash, every politician is in favor of censorship.

Ah, the both sides dribble again.

How many prominent democrats can you name that are still banned from YouTube/Twitter/Facebook going back to the free speech presidency of Joe Biden?

I'll start from the conservative side:

Steve Bannon

RFK Jr.

Dan Bongino

While that's not something that's hard to disagree with. It's an unfinished statement. It should continue that the left actively illegally used government to stifle free speech. And while the right would very much like to have their own messaging front and center, The left has taken the lead and ran with censorship. Just look at legacy media, doesn't matter which channel you turn on they all use the same language interjected in their monolog, "The walls are closing in on Trump" "He wants to be a dictator"..............it just goes on and on and on. Since this keeps coming back to JK, Can you think of any conservative guests he's had on besides Gutfield?

When you're using the full capacity of your brain, you are able to find the assassination on Kirk disgusting and at the same time being repulsed by the witch hunt on all people who don't glorify the great leader

Newsom claims on late night TV that Trump’s efforts to bring the immigration situation under control and deport criminal migrants “authoritarian,” and claimed that the “ICE issue is alarming beyond words.”

Well, what's beyond words? More violence. And just like that there's another shooting at an ICE facility by a politically left wing motivated person.

Proving once again, it's NOT a both sides issue.

How do we know it was motivated by the left? (Said without seeing any news coverage yet today). These wing nut shooters are just as likely to be triggered by the 'anti-me' rhetoric of one side as the 'anti-them' rhetoric of the other side.

All political rhetoric is bad. And it just keeps getting propagated.

"ICE are modern day slave patrols" - Jasmine Crockett

"We won't have an election in 2028" - JB Pritzker

Passes law to remove masks from officers so they can more easily be doxxed - Gavin Newsome

"Trump's modern day Gestapo" (ICE) At a COMMENCEMENT speech - Tim Walz

Here are some of the consequences from the past month or so:

Minneapolis Catholic School children (trans)

Iryna Zarutska on train ("I got that white girl", remember that?) career criminal let out 14 times by Liberal policies

Charlie Kirk ("Hey Fascist, catch")

ICE detainees ("Anti-ICE")
