Hey guys,
Just wanted to share a build. Normally I do pit bike builds, but from 65’s on to big bikes “my number” was #123. Growing up my dad was #123, uncle was #456 and grandpa was #789. I took over 123 when my dad stopped racing so I thought it would be cool to get some inspiration of that and some two strokes.
Let’s take you back to 2005. There’s still a factory two stroke in the field. Local moto is still thriving.
Enjoy this Brett Metcalfe inspired bike and gear.
Shoot For Beauty Photography crushed the photos like always.
Brandon Cummings nailed it on the graphic and gear design.
Gear was produced by Canvas MX.
Bike built from the frame up by Bransten Brunk. I kept running into snags, so I had him just knock it out for me and he crushed it.
Big thank you to all the companies that were apart of this project! It took me entirely way too long but it’s DONE! And I think it was worth the wait!

Awesome work looks great
Wow. Simply awesome bike. I’m curious about the Apex head. How does it perform compared to stock? Is it just bolt on, or does an aftermarket piston go with it? Different squish? Super nice build 👍
Sorry for the delay! Thank you for the kind words. Going to race it this weekend and see how it goes!
As far as the Apex head. It does bolt on, but I actually never rode the bike as stock. When I got it, it needed a new shift drum, transmission, etc. So I went ahead and had a Wiseco top and bottom end kit installed. (They used Wiseco back then so tried to be similar.)
Thank you! Finally got to ride it 2 weeks ago and it was a blast. Haven't rode big bikes much in the last 8 years.

Him and Mcfarlane were the most badass dudes on the track riding those 125s.
Metcalfe was my hero in 2005, as I remember him being the last guy on a YZ125. I had just jumped back to 2-strokes after hating my '04 YZ250F for a full season and was 100% all-in on staying 2-stroke forever. It was Brett & me against the world.
As much as Metcalfe partied and got a bit wild while doing his time in America.. He defiantly left a mark with this YZ125. love the bike and big Metcalfe fan hahah
