I’m so racist that yesterday at lunch two young black guys came into my shop trying to sell me some type of all purpose liquid cleaner. I greeted them the same as I do all customers with a hand shake and asked them how they’re doing today. I listened to their sales pitch. Told them I still have a few gallons left from the last time we bought the same stuff being sold under a different name and that I wasn’t interested in buying any today. Then the tune changed to trying to guilt me into buying to keep them out of trouble with gangs, drugs, and violence in their home town of Chicago. After a few more guilt trips I finally got them on their way. Told them good luck and hope they make lots of sales and to drive safe. In return I got shitty attitudes and they left. 

February I had a recruiter send me a potential employee who we ended up hiring right after the interview. Cost me 12k in recruiter fees. Jeremy was super clean cut, well spoken, polite black guy. Always on time. Very religious. Great attitude. He wanted to learn so bad but just could not pick up on the simple things. I didn’t let him go. Tried to get him to do a pay cut. I can’t pay a guy $34/hr when he can’t get an oil change/grease job done in an hour. It was taking 2.5-3 hours and half the zerks got missed. If I’m having a full time lube tech that pay is about $24 an hour. He left to go be a dock boy with his father in law. I gave the guy several tools. Books from votech. Offered to help him in any way we could. We really liked having him around. He was a good shit. Unfortunate it didn’t work out.
