Eride Pro S V.S. Talaria MX4

The S has 17 inch wheels so it’s more for kids. Personally, I’d go with  MX5 or the eride 3.0.  If you want to save money. Check out the falcon 79  M. Also check out the  by Electric Cycle Rider. On YouTube.

Agree w Bike Rat - S is cheaper but the size is smaller.

I’ve been deep diving as I figure out the best e bike for local commute / fire road exploring in the Catskills and the like. I’ve also found myself frustrated as there’s a ton of squids doing reviews, and it’s hard to find actual riders. But these bikes have so much potential for backyard tracks and hyper local trail rides that sound would create an issue otherwise.

After a few months of research and YT reviews:

1. Most of these YT guys only care about wheelies, shitty two track riding, and acceleration and top speed. None of which really matters for my 15-20 miles trail ride up rocks, cliffs and tight tech single track. You can dig and find real trail ride and track reviews by expert riders giving insight into suspension, brakes, geometry, and battery range as well as power delivery. But you have to sort through a bunch of squid videos first.

2. There’s a lot of new bikes that have come out in the last 2 months - Talaria Mx5, E Ride 3.0 and SR, Atlis Sigma, Beta Explorer / Apollo RFN - to me it all boils down to - durabiility, brakes, suspension, geo and smooth power delivery. And more recently weight, I was looking at KTM Freeride as my leader, but they are 240lbs… I really only need range for 15 miles of trail riding. Max. So 140-170lb smaller, lighter bike makes more sense. Although you can find brand new 2023 KTM Freerides for the same price as a talaria ( $5k )….so really consider what you need 

3. Used prices seem high, almost comparable to new. Most of the sellers are kids and think $100 new bars means $100 added to the price. I’ve been watching the same bikes sit for months though. So you can likely negotiate pretty seriously. 

That’s my deep dive into E-motos. Wife hasn’t approved me setting one yet so I’ll just keep researching and take no action lol 

Essentially what I’m saying is this:

Figure out what you need it for

Is it durable?

and plan on upgrading brakes, suspension and wheels and tires in addition to the usual MX stuff like bars and pegs

Talaria Mx5

Eride pro 3.0 or the eride SR

Altis Sigma 

I think with one of these you can’t go wrong, mecanically the Eride seem durable as did the MX4

The Eride Pro S will likely offer a good mix of the Eride Pro SS’s ruggedness and stability with a possibly refined power delivery that makes it feel more predictable and consistent. It could offer competitive handling with the Talaria MX4, but perhaps with a more traditional, off-road bike feel, and likely won't be as nimble or light as the Surron.

If you're looking for a bike that delivers solid performance across technical trails and high-speed sections with an emphasis on durability and power, the Pro S would be a strong option. However, if you're more into lighter, agile, and highly refined bikes like the Talaria MX4, the Pro S might feel a bit bulkier and less agile in comparison.
