I left my shock stock, just rebuilt, a stiffer spring would help, but the shock was pretty good for me at 185-190lbs, the forks need much stiffer springs, I had Factory Connection rebuilt my fork & shock, they told me the forks need stiffer springs, I was cheap & did not take their advice....they were right...forks too soft...if you are riding a natural terrain track without big jumps you may be ok, problem is, hard to find those tracks now....

I went stiffer springs both ends. Seems that back in the 80's everything was very soft, just the way it was I guess. The best place to start it Race Tech web site. You put in the bike and it ask for you info and gives you what they recommend.

Once I ride them, if I feel that I will race it more then I would re-valve if needed, but springs are the best to start with. If you riding around trails, they will probably be fine.

From what I remember it was DupliColor DE1621-Old Ford Blue.  I purchased a few different blue's, but I believe that was the final choice.
