You can have your political opinions in the current day of course. We all do. I’m sure you, like me, have an overall political belief that aligns with some from the current Democratic Party and some from the current Republican Party. 
I’ll just say, however, when you say things like this, it just sounds silly. The parties are drastically different now. Back then, the Republicans were the more liberal and progressive party and the Democrats were the more conservative party. That has clearly changed. Just look at how the former Confederate States have voted throughout the years.

Ok, I'll give you that, let's brush out the parties. Why is June 19 a national holiday and why is it more significant than those arguably more important days?

I don’t think arguing semantics is good for anyone. Ending slavery absolutely should be celebrated as a federal holiday. We should all be able to agree on that.

Then call it something that makes sense instead of what sounds like something named by a sixth grade ‘name this holiday’ contest. 

Can we just keep creating holidays due to certain groups demanding it? I’d like to submit a few ideas.

I'll try to answer this! Because a Republican president signed the emancipation proclamation and won the war. Then Republicans passed a law abolishing slavery, and Democrats formed the KKK. None of this truth is allowed and they had to come up with something else to confuse people.

While what you said is technically true, it is lacking some context, which is ironic given this thread is about context.

 It really wasn't supposed to be a gotcha. I was simply trying to give an explanation why some obscure day would be made into a national holiday versus the actual important days that changed history. The last thing Democrats want is people looking at what they did and giving credit to the people who stopped them. Now, if we could stop them from importing more brown slaves for working the fields today would be my gotcha😏
