Hi
I'm rebuilding a KX80 1990 shock that the shaft is pitted, i removed the valve stack, seal head and clevis already. When i blew compressed air from the top of the shaft to remove the rebound needle seal i find out that the needle won't come out through the bottom cause after the seal moved it showed a tiny hole in the actual shaft making impossible for the needle to go through the bottom area. Also it won't come out through the top after removing the valve nut. On the top area the hole is too small also. It looks like somehow this needle rebound system was introduced before machining the shaft assembly. Anyone knows how to remove this needle assembly or if i could send it to get re chrome without that process damaging the seal or a plastic collar that it has in between the needle head and the needle seal? I'm attaching a picture of the bottom area showing the needle head and plastic collar in between the seal.
Any suggestions will be appreciated
This system has the rebound adjuster in the bottom of the clevis instead of on the side like modern shocks. Basically the needle turns showing a tiny, medium, large and blin hole close to the valve stack every time you adjust it to the 4 different positions. I think on modern shocks the needle moves from soft to harder going higher instead of turning around.
