All of those riders were good REALLY GOOD and capable of winnign championships BEFORE he rode for Suzuki!

I would have to say that Mitch's record is much better that Rogers when it comes to getting the most out of people. Roger was at Honda from early eighties, to 95 or so. Been at Suzuki ever since. That's somewhere in the thirty year range. He's had plenty of dry spells with out producing a champion.

I think he's good at his job, and I think it's a great move for KTM, but he's no miracle worker.
It takes more than an icon to win championships. It takes a top notch rider, and a "exceptional staff" to support that rider.

It's a team effort.

I think that is largely due to Roger's influence, but, I could be totally wrong as I have no insider info.
Roger is just a part of the development of the Suzuki race bikes. Lot's of people play a part in that process. A lot of that engineering comes from Japan, some came from the after market companies here in the US.



IMPO, Rogers biggest accomplishment is Dungey.



Dungey has been Rogers pet project since he stepped up from the amateurs. One thing I can tell you about Roger is that he hardly ever get's excited about a first year kid coming up through the amateur program.



As far as RC, or Reed.

Both were well established before they set up camp under the Suzuki tent.

You all know we have one of the GxproOAT that post really important incites that us non-x-pros could never fathom...then we have the greatest man-friend, x-pro wrench, turned National-moto-Enquirer have declared that RD is mediocre at his job.

With this kind of incite, I have to wonder why on earth KTM would hire the guy.

I think you hit the nail on the head swizcore.

Like I said, he's a good hire for KTM. It's instant credibility.

That's true but it seems like people push themselves a little harder when they are working for Roger. Same with Payton.

I don't think I would underestimate Roger's influence on bike development. Yes the engineering comes from Japan, but I think Roger pushed them hard to develop a better bike.

i do know this...i bet a 100 bucks Roger D could watch a video and listen to a scooter and tell you if it was a 250, 350, 400, 450 or a 520...no fuggen problem. Smile
