I’d check out Varner…..
I have a Apex head with the MX dome on my YZ and love how it performs. The guys at Apex are very helpful on the Facebook pages from what I’ve seen. My only complaint was that I’m not a fan of the shade of blue on the anodizing. Nothing against them, I was hust after a specific shade of blue.
I did buy a VHM head to replace it tho. Purely just because I like the blue color better. Helps that a friend at work was able to laser etch the GYTR logo on the side of the head for me too. Haven’t gotten the VHM dome yet. But if you go on each webpage and read the description of each style of dome, they are almost word for word. I don’t think you can go wrong either way
What is the CC of the dome you're planning to run?

I belive it’s stock compression so I can still run pump gas. I always add a little bit of C12 anyways. But the most important thing with these domes is they have the correct squish and the dome shape plays into how the power of produced
VHM on mine.
I wouldn't recommend it for woods as such though. When I used this bike for Enduros in the UK, I used the stock head and made the bike lovely and 'soft' power wise with a 13oz FWW, another 1/2 turn on the powervalve spring and a long silencer.
The VHM adds more midrange punch, which can be faster if you are able to manage the power. I mainly got mine because it was cheap, not because the bike needed any more power.
Getting an aftermarket head isn’t going to do you any favors in the woods. Get a heavier flywheel instead
Apex MX head has my vote. Made my YZ 250 run flawless.
Why not just have the cylinder and head worked by an engine builder to give you what you want?
+1
For the money a VHM head costs you can get your stock head re-shaped and cylinder ported for enduro specs.
As far as I know the stock rm250 head uses o rings so it’s not like you should buy an VHM head to get an upgrade for that cause and get away from a regular gasket like the Hondas use.
When I 295'd my 07 RM250 I explained to Tom Morgan that I didn't want the fastest RM but that I ride a short track and after years of lazy four stroke riding my two smoke skills had slipped considerably. He totally nailed what I was after, the bike is an absolute blast to ride now and it's no problem jumping back and forth from four stroke to two even at 69. As an added bonus his jetting spec's were spot on, ran perfect from day one.
What happened to the motor builders turning the stock heads to meet their needs???
