Jeff's father Erwin passed away last night, prayers to his family. I didn't know him very well but met him back in 1986 when I started racing mx and the Stanton's were still around the local tracks just before jeff turned pro. Erwin was a good guy I enjoyed talking to. Fast forward to fall 2017 and Jeff and Sara hosted a Michigan Mafia golden age MX banquet at their Old Stone barn and I got to eat dinner and talk to him again and he said didn't we chat a long time ago, I said yep over 30 years ago... Rest in Peace.
Obviously a great father. RIP.
I first met Irwin in the early 80’s we would park together every weekend when Jeff and his brother John were just getting started. Every time I have run into him or Jeff over the years we would always catch up. Great man and a great family.
man, d14 has lost a couple of the good ones last few months. ol man stanton was a fixture at the track every weekend. RIP Irwin.and RIP Drex... couple of D-14 family icons
