Hey Guys this is probably something that’s been answered before, but I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for.

I’m rebuilding a 2015 YZ250f looking at different piston options. Can I run a later version like the 2016-18 piston in a stock application?

It seems like that generation got improved for durability. Would I run into any issues running the newer piston?

I’ve looked at different part numbers some of them overlap. Some of them seem like they’re different depending on manufacture.

now I have too many numbers  parts inside of my brain so I hope the rocket scientist on this form can help me figure out this age old question.

Yes, I did use the search bar and didn’t see the answer I was looking for.

Thanks for any help guys.

Yes you can run it. 14-18 are the same piston. You can also buy the gytr piston for it.

Have a vortex and big bore cylinder with 10hrs on it if your interested.

The big bore and Vertex is a great option. Built one for a buddy and it is durable. Add in stage 1 hot cams and it will rip!

Hey  thank you for the response. I will look into my options.

With the stage one cam where did you feel the most power gains with that set up?

Stage 1 will get you better throttle response and increases up to the mid range. You will lose a little top end but not a big deal if you're going woth a big bore.
