We left before night show to grab a bite. Hand stamped, no big deal. Came back around 6:30 and there was a staffer at top of steps announcing no one was allowed re-entry past 6:00. We just walked down to the gate that stamped our hands and went back in no issue but I thought a riot was going to break out.
We don't usually leave the stadium. Anyone else ran into this?

It’s common. I believe the tickets state no re-entry after a certain time.
Shocked you got back in
In Detroit there was no re-entry allowed at all. The staff said it was Feld's doing. I call BS on it as Ford Field likely wanted that cold hard cash for mediocre food that is way over priced. Downtown Detroit has so many amazing restaurants. Guess next year I have to skip practice.
The stamp they put on our hands was basically out of ink when we left the stadium, so I was really worried when we were coming back in. The guy at the gate when we came back wasn’t even checking stamps and just waved everyone back through. No trip to Indy SX is complete without a stop by the Slippery Noodle Inn across the street from the stadium for a plate of fried pickles and a beer after qualifying.

Same thing in Tampa. NOBODY knew what they were doing there. Got a different answer from each of the staff we asked.
