Great job but if you live in florida, whats with the snow?? Did you move from Scandinavia??? Nice to see another.bike saved.
I have lived all my life in Finland which is part of Scandinavia. Unfortunately we have very cold and dark winters here
I actually started slowly rebuilding -85 model CR125 which might require opening a new thread for it
Finland cool buddy.
Let's see this build! The cr125 '85 was a great machine!
Mi first Honda was a cr125 '84...great memories.
Recently started a 84 rebuild…. Any chance anyone has dimensions of the front wheel spacers?
Also any update on the brakes? Are the Chinese ones still performing? If so, could you provide the brand, the link is no longer available.
This is the first bike I’m trying to bring back from the graveyard. Thanks in advance
I copied the dimensions of the spacers from my 1986 CR125 and adapted the inside dimensions for the smaller diameter -84 model front axle. It turned out that the -84 model did not require a spacer to the right side of the wheel so I only used the left side spacer. Here are the the dimensions of the spacer in millimeters:
What comes to aftermarket front brakes I haven't got any issues with those . Big bike CR front brakes up to 2003 will fit https://www.ebay.com/itm/156343450569
Here's the bike in it's current state
Thanks for the info! One question about the brakes… I’m assuming if you use the brakes you sent you also need to change the front disc? The 84 has 220mm rotor and the 86+ have 240mm. What year disc bolt pattern works with the 84 forks?
I didn't know that the -84 had smaller front disc. The front wheel which came with parts had 240 mm disc on it.
I'm guessing that front hub is not -84 either judging from the stamp in the rim. It would be quite easy to make 240 mm brake disc for -84 hub tough. It would require a getting mounting hole pattern dimensions from the old disc and then make a 3D model with bigger diameter and get it cut with by a laser from a 3 mm thick sheet metal.
I thought that CRs since 1984 had a 240 disc...😅
Yeah I looked into it and every spare parts listings say that the brake disc is the same 240 mm disc from 1984 to 1988.
